Printer display reads 'waste ink near full' and print quality is fading fast.

Those are 2 different issues, the waste ink absorber when it shows full will not print until it is changed and the count reset by a shop. The quality fading could be a printhead issue or even just a good cleaning of the cleaning and capping unit.

"Waste ink nearly full" on LCD display of MP360. Is it something to be concerned about? Manual says refer to Canon Helpline, but can you please advise. Many thanks

Nearly full means it's still OK to print, maybe 50 or so pages and when it says full it will stop and not let you print any more. The ink absorbers are around $20.00 and you need a shop to replace and reset the counter.

A message saying waste tank nearly full comes up and i need directions to fix it?

Hello. this message indicates that the computer merely has to be reset [canon is hoping you will take your printer to them for a costly tuneup] here are the steps to reset your counter:

Manual Reset procedure for waste ink tank full error in Canon Smartbase MP730 printers:

Hit the “menu”: Key
Hit “Copy” Key
Hit “#” Key
Scroll thru the menu headings until you come to “Test Mode” - 12th heading
Hit the “3′ button- this will bring up Eeprom Clear
Hit “0′ button
Hit the “Stop” button

scroll down to 370
CAREFULLY FOLLOW INSTUCTIONS
1st remove USB cable
take your time BETWEEN OPPS
print out ???????????????????????instruions FIRST
hit the red triangle followed by scan copy scan
you should now be in service mode
now slow down it is not fast

PS your tank is a bin and could over-FLOW on to your nice sheep skin RUG=warning
