Can't upload video on PC

I have Panasonic 22X MiniDV Camcorder, downloaded WinDC software and brand new 4pin-USB firewire. I want to upload the video image from the camcorder onto my PC. But when I try to capture the video onto my Windows XP and Vista, it initially detects the device but then nothing happens. I can't find the file or the video application anywhere, let alone to uoload it. I can't find any software guide or anything, please help.

Your uploaded video may not be supported by your local video player. You can try to get a universal video player which can support most video formats. Universal Media Player can play various media files such as AVI, 3gp, ASF, FLV, Matroska, MOV QuickTime, MP4, NUT, Ogg, OGM, RealMedia, DivX, VideoCD, SVCD, DVD, 3ivx, DivX 3/4/5 and many more.

The computer might not automatically upload the file. it will detect the hardware, but not necessarily start uploading. if you have xp, try going into movie maker which is in your program list in the start menu. on the left hand side there is a few blue sentences, one is import video, another is import video from device. if you have your camera connected to the computer through firewire and have your camera on the vcr/playback mode, open movie maker and click import video from device, the computer will have already detected your camera, so the first option your given in the next screen should have the make and model of your camera to upload from.

I cannot upload my movies

well if the camera is miniDV, than u will have to capture the video with the panasonic software or any other capture software (u;ll need a firewire card (1394 card)).

if the recordings are on the memory (if any) than a simple usb transfer should do the job

Firewire

Yes, you can capture camcorder video from a miniDV camcorder using a FireWire cable and video capture software. Your computer came pre-installed with Windows Movie Maker, or iMovie (if you are on a Mac).

FireWire, IEEE 1394 and iLink are all the same thing. There are 4 and 6 pin FireWire cords. My guess is that you need a 4pin to connect to your camcorder and a 6 pin to connect to your computer. But it all depends on what ports you have available.

You can get a FireWire cord for less than $10 at most computer electronics stores

Check out this FireWire guide for more information:
