Model s5453x1GB/74, about 5 years old, continuously pumping out, I have seen the info on water in the base and the anti flood switch. I have had the dishwasher out, the base is bone dry and the switch moves freely. The lights on the control panel are all illuminated permanently and I cannot to the reset, does this indicate a control unit fault? If so I would an engineer to fit and price of a new unit would tale this to around 200 pounds, debatable in a machine now 5 years old. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Firstly if you haven't already you should probably check the flood switch with a multimeter, it may move freely but the contacts inside could be fused closed. Only the flood switch activates the drain full time otherwise it is directly controlled by the board so if its not the flood switch its probably the board. If the board has shorted you will likely see evidence of burnout on it.

Micro switch was actually faulty, moisture had entered the switch and caused internal tracking and shorting out the micro switch ,making the pump run continually as it thought it was still in flood mode.
Flood appears to have been caused by a pin hole in the water fill hose in the base of the dishwasher, causing water to spray on the micro switch and eventually biuld up in the base of the machine.

The float lifts up if there is water leaking into the motor compartment. Get the unit out from under the kitchen bench and tilt it to remove the water. Let it dry and try again.
You will have to find the source of the leakage. Most likely it is the door seal or dripping hose.
SOURCE: Dishwasher pump keeps running
This is caused by a water leak into the base pan,it will trigger the anti flood and the machine will continously drain out even with the door open, you need to establish what is leaking,if you leave the appliance standing for a few days it will start again as the water will evaporate however if the fault returns you will definetly have aleak on the appliance which will require further investigation.

I have exactly the same problem. Turn on the machine and it just pumps and pumps, door controls do nothing. According to the technician who came and looked at it the problem is a bad control board. He ordered the part and we are waiting on it.

the unit will try to complete the last command it was engage in before it went in the overfill safety mode. you must perform a cancel drain cycle to reset unit to default setting. Remember the drain cycle is 2 min and must be completed to reset main control. however if it went into a overfill status you have a leak and it generally comes from the pressure chamber on the lefthand side of unit where the water enters tub
