Hp Pavilion a730n unknown issue

My Pavilion has an issue that is about to throw me over the edge. The computer will shut it self down after just being on for a few minutes. Its not always at the same time this issue happens, although it always happens within 5 minutes. It isnt the hard drive because it was changed out when this issue started. The thing that makes this even more odd is the fact that when it shuts down on its own, the power light on the front remains on, even if i unplug the power cable. It always takes about 10 minutes before it will allow me to turn it back on at all. This is getting very aggorvating and i am fixing to just scrap the computer once and for all. Can you please help me out with this issue at all?

Well, i do not think that it is a heat issue. Secondly, i used an Ohm meter to test the circuitry of all the fans, case buttons, power supply, etc. I am not able to get into the system log through windows because it never makes it that far. I took out the CPU fan, and all the sinks... cleanes the minor amount of dust off of those. I have NOT reseated the ram, which i will do immediately and i will post what happens with that. Thanks guys, great support so far

Oh, i meant to post the fact that it is an immediate hard shutdown, never the shutdown process. It sometimes doesnt even make it to windows before it shuts off. And, why would the power light even stay on after it shuts down and after i remove the power cord?

Hi Just a couple of questions.

    1. Is it doing a hard shutdown? As in the power is just cutting out? or is it going through the shutdown process?

    2. Are the any recurring errors being logged in the system event log? To view the event log go to Start -> Run -> Type eventvwr and go ok.

You might want to check the CPU fan for dust and re-seat the RAM. I sounds more like a heat issue.

I have a HP Pavilion dv8225nr notebook pc and when I plug the ac adapter into the notebook the battery light keeps blinking and it wont hold a charge. When I keep it plugged in and I turn it on it wont...

It is most likely a bad AC adapter. One way to test it is to remove your battery (I put the steps to do this below) and just plug the laptop in with the battery removed. If it does not power up then your AC adapter is bad. You can buy new batteries online or at your local electronics store. I would advise against buying them from a store though because they are usually much more expensive. I did a quick google search and found some on amazon for a pretty good price.
http://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-DV8225NR-Battery-Replacement/dp/B003KVZIQ2

Remove the battery by following these steps:

a. Turn the computer upside down with the front panel

toward you.
b. Slide and hold the battery release latch to the left.

(The front edge of the battery disengages from

the computer.)
c. Lift the front edge of the battery up and swing it back.

d. Remove the battery.

Cannot get any sound out of system in device manger it tells me the audio device is working properly. help appreciated. computer is hp pavilion a730n Lyle

Lyle,
You need to download the audio driver, and install it.
Just had to do this with my Gateway after a Restoration.

This is HP Support, and the main support page for the Pavilion a730n desktop computer,

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=431078&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=5&submit.x=1&lang=en&cc=us

On this page left-click on the heading -
Software and Driver Downloads. (Ampersand for and)

On this page choose your Operating System.
I chose Windows XP for an example.

(Left-click on the blue down arrow to the left of the box, that has Select in it. Then left-click on the Operating System your computer is using. Now left-click on Next)

Left-click on the + sign to the left of -
Driver - Audio (1)
Now left-click right on the file name -
Realtek High Definition Audio Driver Update

Left-click on Download.
(In blue rectangular box with two right arrows)

Instructions from HP Support for downloading, and installing:

Installation Instructions1. Download the driver update.
2. Double-click the icon for the update file downloaded in Step 1, and then click NEXT.
3. Accept the terms in the HP license agreement, and then click NEXT.
4. Click YES and wait for the update to complete.
5. Click YES to restart your PC.

Once you have restarted your computer, and Windows has full loaded, you should get a pop-up out of your system tray.
Your audio (Sound) should be back now.

If this doesn't work the only alternate suggestion I may offer, is to but an inexpensive sound card, and install it.

(Computer unplugged from power, follow Anti-Static Precautions.
Don't forget to install the CD disk from the sound card FIRST, then install the sound card)

If you have additional questions regarding this, please post in a Comment.

Regards,
joecoolvette.

(Would like to hear from you so that I know you read my solution, thanks)

My a730n computer will not turn on. The green light flashes in the back. Local frys tested power supply and said it was working. Fans dont come on...nothing?

it could be a mother board problem or Power supply issue. Even if the power supply works it wont supply required voltage to some components. Its better you get a new power supply and test it.Still its not working it could be a mother board issue. There will be a chance for power button issue also.

Hp a730n powers on but shuts off at user screen

either you have a virus or the user profile is broken... that could be the uwer hive in the registry is broken if you can not make a new user and it works. Try booting into safe mode to see if it might be a driver issue or such. Next build a new profile. If none of those work, try a repair installation from your windows cd to repair the profile information with a new profile. those usually work in your situation for me.
Thanks!
