Problems with dvd player loading and playing

Laptop 8 months old...used for email and very little web....only used dvd player probably a dozen times or so...seem to have problems getting the disc to load and then play without freezing up.....tried 3 different ones today, two would never load, one eventually did....
is this typical, have extended coverage, called Best Buy to have it looked at..

Maybe your DVD drive got some problems. But first, you can try some other free DVD player software to see if they can play the DVDs. If not, you may need to replace your DVD drive.

DVD player automatically stops and turns itself off, how do I prevent this?

Warning: Laser inside! If you want to open it up and troubleshoot, make sure you don't point toward your eyes.
Check the nylon laser carriage to see if it slides laser from center to outside line. If it sticks, it's probably shutting down from not properly reading a disk.

Will not read disc

As it's less than a year old the manufacturer's warranty should still apply.

Your player probably has a failed laser head unit; if you have to pay to fix this fault then you'd be better off just chucking it away and buying a replacement as it will be cheaper.

My dell studio laptop (one month old) has problems playing dvds

It sounds like you have eliminated a media player problem.

Here are some more things you could try:

Disable your antivirus when playing the movie.

Have Dell replace CD/DVD drive. I got a bad drive in my new Latitude and they replaced it. It was a long phone call...be prepared.

It could be overheating. Make sure you have good air flow under the notebook. They make notebook coolers which you can find with a web search.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

Dvd stops playing and freezes less than 6 months old

Try to use lens cleaner. If lens cleaner doesnt solve the problem. Check your warranty. Or inquire to the store where you bought it.

Dv280 dvd machine

That happens when the lens are dirty or defective.

You can try using a cleaner DVD to clean the lens, that may not work.

Being the unit only 6 months old this is probably a fault concerning the lens, rather than dirt and dust on the lens.

I think the best thing to do is contacting Pioneer at the number listed on the owner manual, since there is one year factory warranty cover on all Pioneer products.

DVP-NS50P will not load DVD

the lense could be only dirty, try cleaning it first. i suggest do a manual cleaning if you can. open the top cover of the unit, remove the disk retainer and you will find the lense somewhere in the middle. use a cotton bud, use a little of alcohol, dampen a little only and wipe the lense in circular motion. then use new dry bud to dry it.

CD/DVD won't eject, won't play, Device Manager doesn't recognize.

If it's only 8 months old, then you have atleast 4 months left on your warranty. The problem will either be the ide controller channel or the dvd drive and firmware has faulted, the same fault probably happens when you have put a dvd in and it wont read or eject. Return to the place of purchase, where the drive should be replaced or the notebook exchanged.
