My guess is that the wires from the phone system are not connected to the jacks you are plugging into. But to verify, try plugging a display phone into the same jacks. That will prove the theory.

If that is the case you will need to connect the new phones into the phone system.

SOURCE: I need to know how to page another extension.

There are 2 buttons right below Line 1 and Line 2. Those are both intercoms.

When paging a phone, you just insert a * (star) before the extension number.

SO, Intercom*11, will page extension 11

To program on a button, feature 00, press the button you want to program, then press the left intercom and *xx (where xx is the extension number)

As far as paging all the phones, you will need to have them in a calling group (1-4), hten you can page the group to page them all.

KX-T7431 try to dial out and dispaly says CO Not assigned, I cannot answer calls either!!!! Hellllppppp

What has happened is that the CO1 CO2 etc buttons have not been programmed to dial the access code for an outside line. You can do this manually by dialling 9 then the number you wish to call. You need to enter the programing mode from the default extension usually EXTN 20 or 21. You need to go into the options and assign the digit 9 and a pause (P). The system will allow you to set different options such as if someone is on CO1 and another user dials 9 from another extension, the system will then assign the next free exchange line, again this must be programmed via the default extension. Let me know if you need further help.

I need to find out what someone's direct line is. I have an extension assigned with a mailbox but not sure of the direct line # associated with the extension. How can I find out?

This would depend on if the line is a stand alone line only being assigned to one extension or on a PRI having DID service. Do a Feature *0 and check the line buttons. It will show the line number or target line number. With this information you can check it in one of two ways. If it is a stand alone line and provided a line number, access the line by pressing the line and dialing your cell phone to get the Caller ID information. If it associated with a PRI having DID service, you will have to check the target line information in programming. A system administrator or vendor needs to do this.

Can you program a 18D phone to bring back up an incoming call number? Does that have to be programmed per each phone or from extension 10 for all phones?

Yes :-)

It has to be programmed from extension 10 and from the phone. One sets the destination and the other sets the button. Technically, you can do everything from the main phone, but it's easier to do the system programming from the main and the extension programming from the extension, that way you can see the button you're assigning to the feature.

Check out the quick guide here. http://public.carl.airpost.net/Avaya/Partner%20ACS%20quick.pdf
Page 38 gives you the #31x commands to set up CID, and page 110 gives you the featrure codes you need to assign to the extenson buttons.

Phones all lit up

Hello, the lights ( buttons ) can be programmed on each phone according to the users need. To program a button press PROGRAM and then the button you want to assign. Now press 1 followed by the extension number you want to assign to the button. Press AUTO DIAL / STORE to save your changes. Press PROGRAM to exit program mode.
NB - Be sure not to program all buttons as extensions. Leave some buttons for CO lines, otherwise you won't be able to phone out.
Thank you
