When connected to the five9.com online dialing system, the sound and microphone cut out frequently for approximately .5 seconds at a time. This also causes a small popping sound at the end of the audio loss. Is there a software upgrade or something that is needed in order to properly use this microphone on this computer. The headset works perfectly on all the other computers that I've used it on.

You should take your headset to another computer/location and see if your problem still exists.
That way you can eliminate problems with either your computer hardware or your outgoing internet connection (jitter).
I don't think that the CD will be necessary, since it is a USB device, which contains it's own little sound card and doesn't need any drivers.
If the problem persists and it turns out to be a problem with the headset, I would definitely return/exchange it.

With the infamous Vista, try:
Start --> Control panel --> Hardware and sound --> Sound --> Audio devices admin [I have a Spanish OS, I hope it is the same in the English version], then assign as default device the headset.
With Skype and other sw, you have to specifically pick the lx-3000 as the device that will be used as audio device (and the same has to be done to use the mic).
Pretty cumbersome....
SOURCE: Well, i dont have a sound in headsets. When i
1 - uninstall the device in device manager
2 - unplug the headset
3 - replug the headset
4 - when it asks you for a driver disc or to update etc select I WILL PICK THE DRIVER MYSELF.
5 - tell it the driver is in C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/
6 - select the driver from the list and click yeah yeah yeah
7 - it should be working now...
Dont ask how or why coz I found it on a forum.

My guess it's something in the cabling of this device I think it is cheaper to buy a new headset with the same quality. I think that that best solves your problem.
