I was getting ready to do a presentation and was checking to make sure everything was ok with projector and screen - it was. I powered the projector off until it would be time to start the presentation. When that time came the projector would not come back on - nothing! After finally replacing the bulb (very expensive), the projector did turn on but I was then having problems with it finding the components to the new lap-top I had plugged it into. I powered the unit off and re-connected it to my desktop computer and NOW, the projector will not come back on. This leads me to believe there is another issue other than replacing the bulb - can't afford to buy a new bulb and have it last only 15 minutes. Any ideas as to what my problem could be?
When you first replaced the bulb it went back on and then later it did not. Most projectors have a safety switch that it is activated upon the bulbs cover placed. Once the cover is removed it activates the switch and shuts down power to bulb. It sounds based on your remarks, that this switch may have intermitten problems. I would suggest, locate this switch and verify its operation. Or, make sure the bulb cover is placed and/or secured properly.

Do you hear the fan working?
What happens when you use the lowest level light output?
Does it run longer?
Also possible cause is a faulty temp sensor.
AC wire connection may not be firmly pressed in socket.

Most projectors have air filters. Yours may need to be removed and cleaned. No air flow = overheat.

Try this:
There is a stuffed 10v 3300uf capacitor on the power board. You need to replace it.
Bellow you can check in the picture where the capacitor is located.
Notice that in this picture I have already took the bad capacitor out and replaced with two small cords to reach the bottom and test the new capacitor.
To reach this place is not fast, several layers of plastic and metal must be removed, but is not a hard task to take the capacitor out and replace it for another.
It works just great! Now it is back on track with awesome image.

Hi, I'm not sure if it's the same problem I had..
I had it on picture mute, for maybe 15 mins, which may not have been a good idea. While it was muted, it made a sparking sound, and then a very loud grinding noise. When turned off, the lound noise stops, and the fan continues as usual for about a minute. As soon as it's turned back on, the grinding noise is back. But the logo seemed to display ok.
I took it in for repairs, and they said they needed to replace the color wheel to fix the problem.

You have to ensure that the Laptop is feeding an image through the VGA port. The simplest way to do this is to press your laptop's Fn key and the CRT/LCD key (usually the F8 key) together. Also, you have to ensure that the projector is on the PC analog input mode.
