Check the auger shear pins replace if necessary with correct parts(not regular bolts).
If auger and the impeller are not turning your cable is out of adjustment.
If only the auger doesn't turn, and the shear pins are ok then the brass/bronze gear has shredded which is why proper shear pins must be used. Donyboy73 on youtube show how to replace that gear on an older but similar MTD affiliated blower.

Mtd yardmachine snow blower 305 cc auger wont turn

This is a fairly frequent problem that is easily fixed. What happened was the snowblower's auger was either overloaded or got jammed (ice, debris - something other than snow). Rather than twist, damage or break the auger itself, an inexpensive part called a "shear pin" is designed to fail. A shear pin employed between the auger sleeve and drive shaft that is inside the sleeve. You may have broken one if one side of the auger spins) or both (if both sides of the auger spins). Purchase several replacements for your particular machine to have on hand. Do NOT replace s shear pin (or shear bolt) with a regular bolt under any circumstances! Check the video linked below on how to replace the shear pins. Good luck!

Have a spirit27" 8hp

I recommend that you contact your nearest authorized service center, or you can download operators and service manuals typically online by performing a simple Google search using your make, model number and part needed.

I trust this information proves useful.

Mtd snow blower quit throwing snow so i checked the belts and i replaced them and still nothing,so i was agusting the auger cable and the cable come off of the handel so i checked the cable and it was fine...

If I was you I would check key way to see if it has sheered off. It is in center of big drive pulley where belt goes on, Just remove nut and slide pulley off to check condition. Best to split snowblower in half. Your snowblower has two main pieces it will be 4 or 6 bolts to separate your machine.

Snowblower doesn't throw the snow very far, and every time I stop it, it takes a while for the auger to start turning fast enough to blow the snow. Feels like the torque isn't there. This is a Husqvarna...

The most common cause of this is the drive belt is worn.
If you remove the cover (usually plastic) in the middle of the snow thrower and look at the belts.
Your operator's manual will show you how to remove the cover and check/change the belts.
The belt closest to the blower assembly drives the auger/blower and the belt closest to the engine drives the transmission.
With the engine not running, have someone depress the drive lever and check the blower belt.
You should only be able to depress the long side 1/2 inch or less. More than that the belt has stretched and needs to be replaced.
On some older blowers you can adjust the tension pulley, but most made in the last 15 years, you can't.
The belt may be frayed on the edges or glazed causing it to slip (it is shiny on the sides of the belt) It may be torn and broke completely.
You can get parts for you Craftsman and most Husqvarana, MTD made models through searspartsdirect.com. You can also get parts through jackssmallengines.com or your local dealer.
If you are unfamiliar with repairing machines take it to your local dealer. They will have a technician troubleshoot and repair the unit.
Feel free to ask any other questions to troubleshoot this problem farther. I know Snow Blowers. Please remember to rate this answer!

My MTD 10hp auger will not turn. I adjusted the auger cable by tightening the bolt on the handle. I disconnected the spark plug and checked the shear pins on both sides of the auger. They are both still...

Yes there are 2 belts one for the drive and one for the auger. If you remove the cover on top that is located between the engine and the auger housing you can check the belts. The auger belt has come off the pulley or is broken. Hope this helps you out. Best regards and good luck.

On my two stage snow blower--main auger stops turning .

Hi, I figured out the problem. The gear transfer case between the augers must be broke. The auger spins slowly until it hits snow and then stops-- The discharge fan continues to spin fast. I will try to get a local handyman to fix it or else but a new machine, this one must be at least 15-16 years old.
I thank you for your help, it is a great service. ojohn
