Many of these units are chain driven devices since belts will shrink/slip/crack in the cold wet environment. For that reason, many manufacturers will use roll pins on the axle shaft of the drive wheels and on the driven shaft of the auger. If they get jammed for any reason, rather than break the chain or damage the engine, the roll pin will shear off. Then you simply must replace the roll pin to regain normal operation. If there is an adjusting screw on the carb turn it out a little bit at a time and see if that works before you do anything else. If that don't work put the screw back where you started. If that doesn't work take the plug out and install a new one and while the plug is out put a table spoon of gas in the spark plug hole and reinstall the plug and put the plug wire back on. If the engine starts but stalls after the little bit of gas is used up. Take the bowl off the carb and clean it out as well as clean the fuel jet that is in the bolt that holds the bowl on. Put back together and see if that works. It is quite often dirty gas that is the problem. Especially if its been sitting. Oh yes put fresh gas in it as well.

If this is covered with a warren tee I would take it back where I bought it. Sounds like a faulty bearing or something is sprung and hitting when it starts up.

Check the auger shear pins replace if necessary with correct parts(not regular bolts). If auger and the impeller are not turning your cable is out of adjustment. If only the auger doesn't turn, and the shear pins are ok then the brass/bronze gear has shredded which is why proper shear pins must be used. Donyboy73 on youtube show how to replace that gear on an older but similar MTD affiliated blower.

First check the safety switch under seat is working by bridging the gap.Try the same with the safety switch on hand brake.Check fuse hasn't blown.Check spark plug is intact and cable is correctly fitted.Check in line fuel filter.Ensure battery is fully charged, a drop in output will result in not starting.Hope this resolves the problem.Gareth
