No Non-Hd sound

Brand new tv has great picture and sound but no sound on NON HD channels. No one seems to know why. Same problem, but I am on Verizon FIOS.  Verizon has no clue, Insignia has no answer either.  I can use component cables, but then there is no HD picture.  I also attached an older Insignia HD flat screen and it works perfectly on all channels.  My assumption is that the TV software in the new set is different and that everything may start working in February.  But without a solution, it is probably best to return the TV.
I have the same problem of no sound on the non-HD channels thru the HDMI port on the 26-in DVD combo. Comcast is about to stop taking my calls and this has been a nightmare!! I am planning to return the set and purchase different brand.

Straight out of the box, had the same problem with no sound on low-end channels. Cable provider said my HDMI port was faulty (there is only one available. Took set back to Best Buy and they gave me a brand new one. Worked fine until couple of days ago then lost sound on non-HD channels. Set is going back to Best Buy this weekend.

Hello,
Just returned from Bestbuy/Geek Squad and they can fix this problem but only by sending it back to Insignia.
I've been searching for a simple Firmware download to use via the USB port (like my bluray) but nothing found yet.
Geek squad was nice and they knew of the issue but I'll stick with the Component cables, as it's only a 19" TV.
If you find the update, please pass it along!
Thanks!

In a nutshell, there is no solution to this problem. The new Insignia TVs have a compatibilty issue with certain HDMI connections. The best thing is to return the TV and purchase another brand. I bought the LG w/built-in DVD and everything works great.

Pixilization on non hd channels with hdmi cable connected to HDPVR receive. HD channels come in crystal clear, non hd channels are all bitmapped and horrible

Your TV is not at fault, it is showing you the difference between HD and non HD channels. HD TV's work great with HD scorces but don't usually look that great with standard definition, Also the non-HD channels are more likely to be heavily compressed which makes them look bad too.

Sony 52" Bravia LCD will drop picture and sound for 1-2 seconds

the only thing that i can think of is that the cables and connections are bad but if that is not the case it may be the internal components of the tv. my guess is that the tv was dropped or jumbled around while transported and what happened was internal components were broken or just mixed up so go to the retailer and get a refund or a new tv. hope this helps

No Non-Hd sound

Best Buy owns some of the brands it sells. Best Buy currently has five private labels which include Insignia, Dynex, Init, Geek Squad, and Rocketfish. Insignia focuses on electronic equipment, including televisions, monitors, car stereos, home theater systems, and portable video and audio players.

The Best Buy televisions are made with substandard components. They are not produced with the same standard the orginal manufacture items.

With the factor of substandard pieces and flash/firmware glitches; it sound like you have a software problem.

I would contact the manufacture ASAP and have a field tech come by to update your television.

No sound on NON HD channels

I had the exact same problem on a brand new Insignia 26 " LCD with DVD. Comcast tech was able to fix it by changing the Comcast box diagnostics. Here is what he did. Using the Comcast remote with the TV on - press power, cable, menu in that order. A comcast diagnostic srceen will appear. Select Additional HDMI options, then audio options. Change the audio options to L-PCM. Press power again to exit the diagnostics. That will fix it and you get to use the HDMI cable.

Zoom Function and Verizon Fios TV

On the verizon FIOS tv box, turn the FIOS STB on, and turn on the tv, tap the following buttons on the Verizon FIOS STB )in this order) 1-Power, then Select, then Menu. This will bring up the FIOS STB HD options. Arrow down to 4:3 Bypass and set the bypass option to 480P. Hit power 2 times, once to turn off, second time to turn STB back on. This should on standard channels give you the zoom feature back. This worked on my Samsunf 5053 TV model.
