Brand new tv has great picture and sound but no sound on NON HD channels. No one seems to know why.
Same problem, but I am on Verizon FIOS. Verizon has no clue, Insignia has no answer either. I can use component cables, but then there is no HD picture. I also attached an older Insignia HD flat screen and it works perfectly on all channels. My assumption is that the TV software in the new set is different and that everything may start working in February. But without a solution, it is probably best to return the TV.
I have the same problem of no sound on the non-HD channels thru the HDMI port on the 26-in DVD combo. Comcast is about to stop taking my calls and this has been a nightmare!! I am planning to return the set and purchase different brand.
Hello,
Just returned from Bestbuy/Geek Squad and they can fix this problem but only by sending it back to Insignia.
I've been searching for a simple Firmware download to use via the USB port (like my bluray) but nothing found yet.
Geek squad was nice and they knew of the issue but I'll stick with the Component cables, as it's only a 19" TV.
If you find the update, please pass it along!
Thanks!
In a nutshell, there is no solution to this problem. The new Insignia TVs have a compatibilty issue with certain HDMI connections. The best thing is to return the TV and purchase another brand. I bought the LG w/built-in DVD and everything works great.

Straight out of the box, had the same problem with no sound on low-end channels. Cable provider said my HDMI port was faulty (there is only one available. Took set back to Best Buy and they gave me a brand new one. Worked fine until couple of days ago then lost sound on non-HD channels. Set is going back to Best Buy this weekend.
