Limited connectivity
If you get a 'Limited connectivity" on you wireless connection on your laptop, it means that the wireless card on your laptop probably did not get an IP address from the wireless router.
To fix this problem, right click on the wireless icon on the Task bar and then click Repair.
This will force the wireless router to issue a IP address to the wireless card on the laptop.

SOURCE: Vaio notebook model PCG-6-W7P wifi internet connection

It maybe the driver for the wireless utitility that runs the card or the driver for the card itself. I would go to so download the latest and see if that fixes it

SOURCE: Sony Vaio netbook will not

That's usually your router, not the computer. Sounds like your computer is connected to your router, but IT is not connected to the internet.
I would suggest shutting down the computer, shutting down router, then the modem, plug the modem back in, waiit for lights to finish blinking (should be within a few minutes) then your router, once that's finished blinking, then turn on your computer.

When playing a show through my laptop to the chromecast it is all jumpy

Hi, this depends heavily on your Wifi network speed, try with a lower resolution/quality show, and see if you get the same effect. Keep in mind that your wifi network's bandwidth is a bit low for full HD quality.

You can also try to limit all other activity on your network by turning off the wifi connection on other mobile devices that is connected to your network.

My laptop has limited internet access. I've called up my router provider and they said theres nothing wrong with the router as it works fine on all other laptops in my house. I have a sony vaio, I have...

Hello -

Depending upon where (in your home?) you use your Sony Vaio laptop (via WiFi?) you may need a WiFi booster or extender. Or, you may find that moving your WiFi router to another location in your home will improve your connection without diminishing the connections for other laptops used in your home.

Perhaps the information here will prove instructive:

Note: If the router needs to be moved in your home, you will probably need a technician for your Internet provider to come to your home to relocate it and connect it properly.

Intermittent wi-fi

Most laptops you can just flip them over and open an access panel. Usually just 2 or 3 screws are all that stand in your way. Some laptops like 1000 Model HP's require you to remove the entire plastic panel on the bottom. You will recognize the wireless card inside by two distinct cables that attach to two corners of it. It is usually 1.5 x 1.5 inches big and will have one cable hooked to main and one to auxillary. These cards are available for purchase online if you google internal wireless cards notebook. There may be other types out there but i run into this one almost every time!

Vaio laptop VGN-BX540B user

you should only need to enter the WEP key and get youre friend to remove your mac address. You may also need to refresh the ip address of your wireless card, so go to control panel>network connections>right click to properties>TCP/IP line>properties and ensure 'obtain ip address automatically' is ticked, then reastart your pc. Or you can also click Start>Run, then type ipconfig /flushdns, so as to renew your dns and ip address.
