I turn on the TV and the timer light is the only light that will come on
After a few seconds the timer light will turned off.
Okay I have the same problem with the timer light coming on and then shutting off within a few seconds. I have sound but no picture. I tried holding the menu and input together and it did what you said...green timer light blinked a few times. But now what? That didn't seem to fix it. Mine is a Mitsubishi HD 1080
After holding down the menu and device the led will blink a two digit error code such as 3 blinks pause then 4 blinks then repeat that sequence a couple of times. Need that blink code to help let you know whats going on. The 34 code means lamp abnormality which translates to the power Pwb capacitors have most likely failed.
There is no 24 code Count the blinks again. There will be a series of blinks for the first digit then a pause then a second series of blinks for the second digit then it repeats

try holding in the menu and input/device buttons on the front of the set both together and see if it blinks a series of blinks, pause briefly then blinks a second series of blinks, let me know what the blinks were sush as 22 or 24

A fuse is blown inside usually and its going into shutdown. If its f9a04 or f9a05 then its likely convergence (the most common issue). Check them with an ohm meter. Here is a tech guide, it talks more about when the tv will still come on, but it may be helpful.
