How to program the TV remote to work with an APEX
As far as I can remember, the original JVC remote doesn't support a DVD player. It doesn't have the necessary buttons to control the player functions. You'll need to stick with the original Apex remote if you have it, or look for a universal remote that is compatible.
I have JVC AV-27D305 and
See the website MCM Electronics. Here, you will find an original. The other site to visit would be Matelectronics. These two companies will surely have the remote you need. Yes, sometimes you will need an original remote to fix your problem. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Hello
Closed Caption function is set to On in your JVC. look if there any button marked as "CC" on its remote control. If it is there, hit it till the closed caption function go off from your tv screen. If there is no such button found, get into its menu option, surf through, and get in to the closed caption option, set the close caption function OFF in that window. OK.
I have a JVC D
Hi:
this commonly due to no high voltage, the horizonal deflecton circuit is not functioning, this may be due to poor solder connectins around and on the flyback transformer. The television is in need of servicing.
Flashing timer led
There is no reset button like in the old days. You can reset the microprocessor to it's default state by unplugging the set, let it stay unplugged for 10 or more minutes. Plug the set back and it will reset itself.
You might lose stored channels and settings but they will all be reset to the manufacturers specs. This is true for anything that has a microprocessor (computer) in it.
My JVC television doesn't turn on. When you power
The main power supply has either failed or is shutting down due to a downstream failure, the most likely place for the latter is the horizontal sweep circuit that produces the high voltage and the sweep that moves the trace across the screen.
The most common failure in that circuit is often a failed 'flyback' transformer and/or the very fast, powerful, sweep transistor itself.
Checking the transistor isn't technically difficult (they normally short between two of the three elements) but measuring the flyback requires some knowledge of what to expect and an inductance meter as a minimum.
If you can locate an old, still breathing, TV repair tech, I would even advise having it repaired since (check for yourself under "LCD," "plasma" or "rear projection") the modern sets will not last as long as your JVC did.
If you get it repaired, put it in a dry place (with the digital converter if you have one) and keep it as a spare so you won't have to do without TV when the new 14-15 month-old set goes belly up.

Is this TV HD capable?
This is not an HDTV. However, that does not mean you cannot use it to view the HD channels with DirecTV, you just wont be able to view them in hi-def. Use the component inputs from the directv tuner and plug those into the proper component inputs of your JVC. Once you see the DirecTV picture on the screen, go into menu... setup (with the directTV remote) and make sure that the only resolution checked is 480i. DirecTV with 'downconvert' those cannels to standard def, and they will still look pretty good though the component connection...
... now, in answer to your next question: "What exactly do I need to view HDTV with DirecTV?"...
1. A television that will accept 720p or 1080i signals.
2. A DirecTV HD Tuner.
3. Any DirecTV service BUT you must purchase the HD pack so that they will 'unlock' the HD channels
4. The proper cables to hook in between your DirecTV HD receiver and your HD-capable TV/Monitor. You may use either HDMI or component video cables, so long as your TV will accept them. Tune your TV input accordingly. When using component video cables, you must also run a separate cable(s) for audio...
Take care,
Rob
ps. DirecTV HD tuners do not have an RF 'out'. ("coaxial or ch3/4 connection")
