I am trying to burn a lightscribe lable on a DVD. When it starts to burn the lable it hangs up and does nothing. "Not responding" I ran the diagnostic tool and it tells me No media detected. I have a dvd disk in the drive. What is wrong?

I am using a Lenovo Y500 laptop with Matashita drive. When i insert a CD the autorun shows it as "Blank CD". Also the drive is not able to write on recordable media.

G'Day,
I have the same issue with the LG GSA-H20L and the LG GSA-42N, but mine was with TDK DVDs.
I contacted LG Support and they told me that TDK disks are not recommended for use with their DVD Burners.
I asked them if there were any others and they said no.
Going through my cupboard, I found Memorex Printable DVD-Rs that will burn OK.
I also tried Sony DVD+R and a generic brand, but they will not burn either.
I also found that these LG drives do not recognise Laser CD-R.
In short, for burning, try either Memorex, LG and some others, but don't try TDK, Sony or Laser.
The issue you have with playing DVDs may be because the DVD has been burnt on incompatible media.
Good Luck

Start the Run Command Prompt
Type in "regedit" without the parrenthesis then click ok
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Then SYSTEM
Then CURRENT CONTROL SET
Then CONTROL
Then CLASS
Then find {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
The whole thing looks like this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Then delete the upper and lower filters.... (if lower filter is not there then leave it)
RESTART YOUR COMPUTER THEN THERE YA GO!!!! HOPE THIS HELPS

POSSIBLE solution... (don't shoot the messenger on this one, lol!)
I'm sure you have tried, but have you cleaned your optics lately?
Using a Q-tip and a small amount of rubbing alcohol, and GENTLY rotate the swab across the lens, rotating it in the opposite direction you are wiping. This should "lift" any dust or grime from the lens. I would also clean the tray with a soft lint-free cloth (using an air-can just moves the dirt around, doesn't solve the problem) If that doesn't do the trick, respond to this thread and I will be happy to assist you further!
Hope this helps!
