Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite L850-1D4. When I plug my headphones in(I've tried several different sets) the sound comes out distorted. I can hear background music ok if I wiggle the lead slightly but the voices sound far off. I've tried adjusting my sound settings but I've had no luck. My laptop is fairly new, brought only a month or so ago and I don't abuse the jack at all. I need help? Thanks in advance for any help you can give...

SOURCE: Headphone Jack is NOT working properly

Check your sound device levels. you may need to enable that headphone port before it is usable. you can do this in the control panel tab. reinstalling your sound drivers wouldn't hurt also.

SOURCE: My microphone won't work. I can't hear my voice.Toshiba Satellite

Check which microphone device u have set up. Try changing it around. Also try just speaking closer to the microphone and into the mic. Some mics just are not good.

Sound coming through right headphone, but not through left. Sound also not coming through left speaker. Help?

are you adjusting sound through the windows controller or the application you're playing music through? there are a few things that could affect that, there's also the actual sound setup where you can change your setup i.e. surround sound, single speaker, headphones etc

No sound at all when headphones are plugged in

Hi, I apologize in advance for not offering a solution. Have just trolled through the handbook (on-line) for anything that might offer a clue. It takes both high and low impedance units so that's cool. They say to use the phones to assist with speaker issues and there's nothing to suggest that any of the settings affect them. Depending on the impedance the volume levels can change a fair bit so I guess you've cranked it up to check. The fact that they turn off the speakers doesn't add a lot, it can often be a simple mechanical switch in the socket when the plug is inserted. Does the 'speaker off' indicator come on when you plug them in. The only other things I'd suggest is both try another set of phones regardless and the other is reset all the sound settings to factory and see if that has any affect. Else you likely have an issue with the phone interface circuitry.

Sound Distortion

somekind of hardware side failure or bad drivers.
I hear sounds from my audio output if i connect my headphones there directly but when I connect it to my speaker system they filter the distortion.

Toshiba satellite laptop

Before going to any shops, here is a suggestion that can't hurt anything.
Go to the Control Panel and click on Sounds and Audio Devices. On the Volume tab at the bottom, you will see "Speaker Settings". Click on the Advanced button. Change that setting to "Stereo headphones". You should hear the sound only through the headphones then.
