Optoma Theme scene HD81 will not power up. The on / stanby light on the box just keeps flashing and appears not to send any power to the projector.

I have an Optoma Theme Scene HD81 home cinema projector. It has a separate video box that acts as the control and power unit for the projector. The on / standby button on the video box only flashes, it does not stay on, indicating it is always in standby mode. Does anyone know how to power up the box and project? Regards Paul

Probably the separate box is a learning remote. Have you tried to turn on the projector at the projector?

SOURCE: Flashing standby, power on,lamp lights with no fan

Most problems with the lamps are covered in the manuels for these projectors , however none user technical difficulties are not .. ie where it is needed to open the unit not recomended to the untrained as a screwdiver in the wrong place can cause irepairable harm let alone death ?
To check if it is your bulb simply take the unit to an engineer for an estimate usually free at least you will know whats wrong and can go from there .. and if you do have a working bulb an ebay replacement is probably the cheaper conclusion to your problem ... regards Vortash

Hello!

After 2 years I finnaly solved the problem. There was a flaw in the lamp´s temperature circuit. A technician disassambled my BENQ PB8253 unit and fixed the problem. Charged me US$ 75.00. I´m in Brazil.

Hope this can help.

My projector will not power on. I've replaced the cables, the power source, and the bulb but still nothing. The red standby led on the control unit turns blue when power button is pressed but goes right...

The ballast unit has most likely failed. Replace the ballast unit, unless the lamp exploded and in which case, there may be glass fragments stopping a fan from turning.
