When we want to play a movie from the DVD player or play the Wii, the screen only shows black and white. The Cable selection is in color and fine. Any ideas why?
Consult the owner manual for the player (and or try it on another set) as many players have settings that can cause B&W or a single color display for the image.
Usually, this problem commonly happens when you try to play DVD discs on a new DVD player, or on some occasions that you have changed the settings of the DVD players and output TVs. Reasons can be:
1. The incorrect TV and DVD broadcast formats.
2. Incorrect cabling.
3. The backlight of the TV screen is abnormal or broken.
4. Objective factors, like whether and connection signal.

On a plasma there are 2 buffer boards, upper and lower, it all depends which half of the screen is on as to which buffer to replace, the buffer boards are located usually on the left hand side if you have the back off the unit. You maybe able to reseat the ribbon cables and get the video back up

Since the set is only 8 months old, it should still be under warranty. This may only be an internal connection problem, but opening up the unit will void the warranty. I would suggest that you call for warranty service. This is a problem with the set and has nothing to do with external devices or interference.

Help! My Plasma by Magnavox is putting black verticle lines on the right side of the screen - comes and goes - and I replaced the entire Direct TV-HD unit - wires, everything - and had TV company repair - and it still came back. The TV repair refuses to take TV back because it does not show up when they come. Although I videotaped it and showed them which has the date and time - they still refused to take it - and tried to get me to sign a paper saying it was working while they were there - which of course I refused to sign - so they left and nastily said they will not be back-find someone else. I still have the lines - and do not know what to do! Can anyone help?
