Look in Control Panel, do you see a Bluetooth program? In the specs for your machine it states if you have windows 7 you have it :http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/netbook/2011/Acer/Aspire/AspireOneAOD257/AspireOneAOD257sp2.shtml

My computer says that my media is not switched on so therefore i cannot connect to the wireless internet how do i switch it on
To turn on your wireless adapter, press Fn key + F2 until you see the message Wi-Fi = ON. If you are connecting via bluetooth just keep on pressing Fn + F2 until you see Bluetooth = ON. You can also turn them on at the same time.

If your wireless mouse is bluetooth, you have to make sure that your Aspire One is bluetooth enabled. The older ones are NOT, but the newer Aspire Ones are.
