DIR 625-reset name and password

Hi,

Please try to access the router's configuration page by accessing 192.168.0.1 using a computer that is wired on the router.

Note:Please do not upgrade the firmware over wireless connection. Anyway you wont be able to do that now but for future reference. Please use the link on the bottom.

1.Open your Internet browser and type in the default IP address for your DIR-625 wireless router: 192.168.0.1. A window will appear asking for your DIR-625 wireless router network name and password. If you do not know your existing network name, enter the default network name, "Admin." Leave the password blank. If you have already set up a network name and password, enter it now. Select "Log In."

2.Select "Wireless Settings" from the left-hand navigation bar. Put a check mark in the box marked "Enable Wireless."

3.Type your new wireless network name for your DIR-625 in the box labeled "Wireless Network Name."

4.Type your new password for your DIR-635 in the box labeled "Pre-Shared Key."

5.Select "Save Settings" from the top of the screen to save your new password.

You will need to log into the router's web page to view the security settings and access your security key. The default IP address of D-Link routers is normally 192.168.1.1; simply input this IP address into the address bar of your web browser.

You will be brought to a D-Link page and be prompted for your user name and password. If you have not made any changes then the default password should be admin. If you changed the user name and password simply enter them here.

You will need to click on the "setup" tab found at the top of the page. Now you will need to click on "setup wireless" or "Wireless settings" to access the manual configuration. Now you will be able to locate the security key.

If you are unable to locate any of these or you have changed the user name and/or password and no longer remember what they are, you will need to reset the router and set up your wireless network from scratch.

To change the password on the router you'll need to login into it using the userid/password you initially setup, if you don't remember what those are you can always reset the router back to the factory settings via the reset button on the back of the router.

There should be a reset button on the back. Hold it down for 5- 10 seconds. The user name is admin and default password is blank. The address is 192.168.0.1

You need to open the router's setup page (admin page) http://192.168.0.1 to enable the wireless security

The best method is to reset the router by placing a straighten out end of a paper clip in the hole on the back of the router called reset. Hold the rest button for 15 seconds. At which time it will reset the password. Then go your web brower and in the space for the url address type 192.168.0.1 It will then bring up a screen for user name and password. The user name is admin and the password is left blank. Once you enter that information your logged in.

try to reset your D-link router (press the reset button of at least 1min) reseting router will restore the manufacturer default router settings.
Note: Save or write any changes you made in your router if you customize it other than using the default settings.

How do you know that you are connecting and there is no security? There first thing to check is the router settings. You should type into the browser 192.168.1.1 (or whatever you have configured your router's IP address for). Enter the user name and password for the router. On the next screen you will notice a link for wireless settings. Click this and on the new page check the bottom section that says "Wireless Security Mode". It should be set to something other than "none". Post back and let me know what it is set to.
