My American Standard does the same hum. Only used about 3 times and owned for less than 6 months. Motor hums, but jets don't turn on.

I have the same problem, I haven't used the jet tub in quite a while. The tub is in our master bath and is on the second floor. The access panel is outside on the second floor. Do I call a plumber for this? I can hear it hum, but nothing comes out of the jets. Please help.

That motor solution is correct. I called the company American Standard and fortunetly, mine was still under warranty. They sent out a plumber within 3 days to replace the motor and now I'm back in Kansas Dorothy.

Sounds like the motor might be on a dead spot. try turning the shaft of the motor 1/2 turn or so and see if it will kick in. If not you may have a bad motor of some debris in the motor preventing it from starting.

When I push the button on my american standard jacuzzi tub I hear the hum of the motor but jets don't come on

In my case I took the motor out and used a screw driver to turn the impeller in the front of the pump and the fins inthe back. Put it back together and it worked. I then used 2 tablesoons of dishwashing detergent and 1/2 cup bleach and ran it for 20 minutes to clean and degrease the impellers

When I push the button to start the jets, it just hums but no water comes out of the jets

there may be something caught in the impeller in the jet motor. remove it and clean it out.

Jetted bath tub has stopped working. Motor hums

look on the back of the motor there should be a shaft that you can try to turn to spin free because something inside the pump is blocking it. rate me if this is helpful.

American standard jacuzzi tub will not work. motor hums but jets do not come on

is this a new install? if so you may need to adjust the air intake. Or if you have kids they may have messed with the settings. If the air is closed all the way off....no bubbles.

My American Standard whirlpool pump will only hum.

The bearings (or bushings) of the pump or pump motor have siezed, these can be replaced on some models but for the most part you will need to replace the pump and/or pump motor. and as where to get parts, i would suggest the outlet from wich you purchased the unit or another appliance outlet. Or if you feel up to the challenge, im sure you could find replacement parts on the internet: google, ebay, etc.

I have an american standard air tub and cannot get the air jets to shut off. Ā They turn off, but come back on automatically a short time later. Ā How do I shut the power off?

Check the air vacuum switch and line as you may have a air vacuum leak. The button that controls the on and off to the jets is an air vacuum switch....It may have a slow air leak in the line or connections that is activating the on and off control

Aquglass jet tub will only humm no bubbles out of none of the jet

When a motor hums, it usually is the result of what is called "locked rotor." This can occur when the motor's brushes remain on one pair of the commutator contacts. The magnetic field does not shift to the next set of windings and the rotor is locked in place by the unchanging magnetic field.

If you have access to the motor, turn on the power briefly and place your hand gently on the side of the motor. Probably you will feel the vibration of the hum you are hearing, together with some heat. In locked-rotor condition, the motor draws high amperage and heats up quickly. Turn off the power.

If this is the condition, the motor is shot and needs to be replaced. You should copy down the information from the name plate (model and serial number, manufacturer, horsepower, amperage, etc.) and contact the manufacturer or a local appliance parts store about a replacement.

As you said that you recently bought the house, you may have a home-owners warranty which may cover the appliance.
