Hi kelli kelly - From what you have described if the dishwasher switches to china mode, then there seems to be a communication problem with the main control board or wiring harness. I strongly suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately and to properly diagnose the unit.

Hello ddux97 - Here are a few simple troubleshooting tips that may help you resolve this issue:

· Do you have hard water? Hard water is the primary reason to cause soap residue. Water hardness can be determined by the local water supply company, water treatment company or via a water hardness test kit, which can be found at local part distributors or hardware stores. Some kind of water softening is recommended, in areas where the water hardness is 12 grains or higher. For very hard water a home water softening system would be recommended.

· Will the upper spray arm rotate freely? If it does not, then there isn't enough water being pumped to the spray arm or the full flow of water is not making it to the upper spray arm. Remove or replace the spray arm assemblies since it is possibly damaged.

· Confirm that the drain hose is strapped up properly under the sink to prevent the water from siphoning out during the cycle.

· Dishwashers require the water inside the unit tank to be 120F to perform properly. Best way to ensure this happens is to run the sink faucet until the water comes out hot before the dishwasher is turned on. This will ensure that hot, 120F water goes directly into the dishwasher when it starts to fill. When checking dishwashing detergent boxes and with detergent manufacturers, the compounds in the detergent need water temperatures to be between 125F - 140F to dissolve in the dishwasher. The water pressure should be 20-120 psi (pounds per square inch). If it is too low, I recommend reaching out to a plumber to further assist you.

· Rinse aid dispenser should be checked and filled about once a month depending on the number of washes you do in a month since this will cause cloudy dishes and soap residue.

If these basic troubleshooting tips prove ineffective, then at this point, I would recommend having a service technician to diagnose the problem before investing in unnecessary parts.

How is the china and crystal wash cycle different from the regular cycle on my GE Triton XL dishwasher? Can I use regular dishwasher soap on my china and crystal?

Most dishwashers that employ this setting use a lower temperature for the water and also they do not use the element to dry the dishes, they are air dried. China and crystal are very sensitive to changes in temperature and can crack easily. They should always be washed by hand however if you have to use the dishwasher make sure you have a mild detergent. No bleach or acid should be contained. If it says citrus anything it has acid in it. Also use half the amount of detergent regardless of its strength. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Which is the best powdered cascade product for the china/crystal setting on my miele?

Most european dishwashers are water conserving and energy saving. You have to be very careful in the type of detergent that you use. Plain, original cascade powder works fine in your Miele. Use 1/2 of the recommended amount, as your dishwasher uses much less water than the american machines that the amounts are written for. avoid cascade with additives such as bleach, or dawn. these additional components in the detergent do not rinse off well with the reduced water quantity, and will leave a gritty white residue on your dishes. Stick with the plain powder. I use Finish tablets with the red powerball, and I dont add rinse aid. These tablets work great in the Miele, asko, Bosch, and other imported dishwashers.

One caution on your china and crystal setting, your manual states that if you want to use the china and crystal cycle, the dishwasher should be connected to cold water only. The temperature of the china and crystal setting is limited to 115 degrees. your hot water is probably much hotter. if your dishwasher is connected to hot water, it will defeat the purpose of the lower temperature cycle. you will get etching on your crystal glasses.

Remember, the Miele will heat its own water one batch at a time. Connect it to cold for energy efficiency, hot for shorter cycle times. but cold only for china and crystal.
Enjoy your machine.

The button is locked and it wont unlock the air dry setting, so i cant wash my load

Try resetting the breaker, If that does not work you would either have a control board problem or the control panel toucpad itself. Here is a link for a breakdown of the unit, and Part ordering info:

Er...error code

FREE FIX!! Before you do anything else try this....

Blinking display with "ER S" on this model is a "keypad error" NOT a control board error. It occurrs when a button on the keypad is "stuck" for more than a minute most likely from being corroded - which can happen when the steam accumulates on the underside of the counter and drops down onto keypad (an apparent design flaw which frigidaire will do nothing about) - all the techs I've talked to recommend replaceing the entire plastic keypad assembly (oem part cost $125 at my local store). But they sell just the switch that is glued into the assembly for 16$ at www.repairclinic.com and it is a thin plastic film with electronic circuits running through it. Before you buy it though, turn power off at breaker, then try gently prying the keypad switch cover (the strip with the buttons on it) off of the top of the door panel (It is stuck down with a double sided clear tacky strip - I did it with a thin butter knife) and cleaning off any corrosion on underside of strip and on switch. Gently replace the keypad cover strip and press down around the edges gently. Then turning power back on to machine and see if that fixes it - worked for me - FREE!!! Worth trying before you call out a tech

Brand New overflows PLD4555RFC3

If this is new construction or a new disposal, check the hose that drains from the dishwasher to the disposal - the installer may have forgotten to remove the plug when they connected the hose.
