Check to see if the power from the wall socket is there. Plug in a lamp or somthing. If it works, then the microwave burned out an internal fuse, or curcuit board.

Testimonial: "tanks "

the socket is working and check the fuse but were is the curcuit boared?

  • Anonymous Oct 08, 2012

if the socket is working, the breaker is fine. The breaker is at the main house panel and cuts the power to the socket. This is an internal appliance issue. I do not suggest opening it up to check for a fuse unless you are capable of basic electronic repair.

Electrolux wall mount micro wave oven combo doesn't work

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that your Electrolux wall mount microwave oven combo is not working. I see that the oven is working, but the microwave is not. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power and try any setting. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. If further troubleshooting is needed, please provide me with the model number of your air conditioner. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

I have GE Advantium 120 SCB1001 Microwave Oven. It is plugged in, outlet has power, but nothing comes on at all.

There are TCOs (thermal cutouts) which also can fail or blow, resulting in "no power" conditions.

All but one of them should be accessible without taking the oven from the wall.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

The full service manual is here.

You can find helpful exploded views and order GE parts here.

BUT there is one TCO which has thinner wires of a color other than black or white. This is the hood TCO and should read "open" or "infinite" which is correct.

All other TCOs should read shorted or virtually zero ohms on a continuity test, as should the fuse.

The cavity TCO is only accessible by removing the oven from the wall, then taking off its outer cover.

When taking the oven from the wall, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

How do I remove my Hotpoint microwave RVM 44004? Two bolts visible from the cabinet down into the microwave. Removed them with zero result. No other fasteners visible in top or side cabinets.

It is much easier for two people to remove the microhood. If attempting alone, please move the range out so you can get under the micro to support the weight. If the range stays in place, protect the top from damage.
    1. make a landing site to the side to protect the floor when putting the micro down after removal.
    2. Disconnect the power cord in the cabinet above.
    3. loosen the two screws in the bottom front corners of the cabinet above. When removed the front of the micro will drop, be ready for the weight. Busy times, tools in hands microwave coming down in front.
    4. tilt the front down. pull the cord out of the upper cabinet.
    5. with micro still tilted down in front, lift the back of the unit upward to free it from the wall plate.
    6. remove the fasteners in the wall plate and remove.
    Congrats, begin celebration.

    Sounds easy...but

Installing one of these between two cabinets and supported by the one above it is a pain ..but even worse if you don't have the installation directions. If you are relatively handy and have some carpenntry experience, I'll walk you thru the way I install them. First off, I assume you are installing this above a stove and betwwen two wall cabinets.. You need to do a little preparation work first. locate the wall mount bracket and you should have a packet of hardware ( primarily two long screws that will be used to support the front of the micro from the cabinet above) If you have all this.. you'll need to determine if you are going to vent the micro back into the room or plan to vent it outside. The simplest is to vent it back into the rook thru a charcoal filter but if you are going tovent it outside, you have two choices.. one is to vent it up thru the cabinet and outside via ductwork that you buy..if the microwave oven is being attached to an outside wall then it is easiest to vent it straight out the back ( i say this because you have to orient the blower in teh configuration that you are planning to use) Let's assume you will be venting this back into the room ( that's the easiest ) and move on.. The wall mount bracket supports the back bottom of the microwave oven when you secure it and the two long screws will be used to bring the front of the micro up against the bottom of the cabinet above it... I normally locate the wall studs and then buy and fit a 1/2 inch piece of plywood onto the wall where the micro will be mounted. The microwave will project out 1/2 inch further as a result of this plywood panel but.. you can use lots of drwall screws to the secure the plywood to the wall studs and then you can mount the wall bracket onto this plywood without having to worry about where the studs are and if it will support the microwaves weight. Mount the bracket onto this plywood piece. I will use drwall screws and add flat washers to them to provide additional support. Once that bracket is installed, you will need to figure out how you are going to provide power to the microwave. If you are replacing an existing oven then you will probably have a power fees inside the cabinet =situated above the microwave oven. If not, then you will need to provide a power feed for this. In the old days, most of these appliances were hard wired into junction boxes but nowadays, most appliances are treated as removable and all you will need is an outlet box in the cabinet above. I suggest you bore a hole large enough for the power cord plug to fit thru the bottom of the cabinet so that you can plug it in. The next part is the hardest to accomplish.. If you look at the top of the microwave oven, you should see two holes near thhe front and on top. Those two holes have floating captive nuts inside them that the long screws ( included in your hardware kit) will be used to snug the front of the micro up against the bottom of the cabinet above it.. The trick is to measure from the back wall out to where these holes need to be drilled in the cabinet above so that they line up. You can drill bigger holes than you need and use oversize washers if necessary. If this sounds complicated ..it IS.. i have put many of these in and unless you are actually doing one, youhave no idea how involved this can be.. even worse with ducting to the outside.... I hope this gives you some tricks on how to install.. And um.. if you do get this all together, you will need some help actually putting it in place.. You'll need to catch the back of the microwave onto the tabs of the wall bracket and then feed the wire thru the cabinet while you lift the entire thing up to start the screws from the cabinet down onto the top of the microwave. I'm a big guy and have done these myself but it is not easy.. Hope this helps you.. Lastly, here is a link to the GE website where you can download the user manual and search their FAQ for install details ( in retrospect, I just should have given you that info).. http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/
    Hope this helps you...

Sunbeam SMW5500 micro/convection oven shorted out when opening door

You are decribing a typical Door Safety Switch problem. The Door Safety Switches has Failed. The Door Safety Switch is designed to shut down the Micro in the event the Micro is still cooking when the door is being opened. The first "Click" of the switch cuts off the "Cook". If it does not cut off the "Cook", the second "Click" blows the power. Otherwise it would "Cook" with the door open, and I need not to tell you how DANGEROUS that could be. It first Tripped the Circuit Breaker which supplies power to the Microwave. After Re-Setting the Breaker the same thing happened except this time the Micro is DEAD- not even a light working. Yes, there is a line FUSE inside the Micro. You however need to address the Door Switch SHORT before replacing the fuse. If not, it will just Blow The Fuse Again, and Again, until the Short is corrected.
Call around, ask How much to replace a Door Safety Switch.
    Good Luck!
