What's your problem?i installed canon mp250 but the scanner wasn't installed with it

Go to System Preferences > Hardware > Print & Scan > click on add printer or scanner. Now let the OS search for printer under Default tab.
If it finds your MP250, great. Proceed with adding and delete the old MP250 printer in the list.

You need to install the driver and other software. If you don't have the cd, here is the website to download the files.

The important files to download and install are the Driver file MP250 series... and the Software file MP navigator...

To change the ink, make sure that the printer is on (green light is lit). Then lift up the entire scanner unit and latch the support on the right. Wait for the cartridge carrier to move into the ink cartridge replacement position. Open the cartridge cover on the right hand side by pinching the front and the tab on the top together; then lift it upwards. The cover will rotate towards the back of the printer. Pull the empty cartridge back out of the slot. Open your new cartridge and peel off the protective tape. (Do not touch the electrical contacts or the nozzles.) Place the new cartridge in the slot (slide it forward). Then rotate the cartridge cover back down until it clicks. If you do not need to change the color cartridge, lift up on the scanner unit until the support unlocks. Then carefully lower the entire scanner unit to close it (don't pinch your fingers or drop the scanner unit). If the orange Alarm light comes on, check that the cartridges are correctly installed and the cover is in place. Wait until the printer recharges ink system before sending a print job or copying a page.

ive been resolving that issue for almost 8 hours since last night.(that means i did not sleep) because i badly need to scan papers for my precentation today. finally it worked after unstalling all canon folders, then reinstall everything... hope this work with you

I'll assume you are running Windows XP:

1) Disconnect Mp250 from hp mini
2) Start -> Settings -> Printers and Faxes - Delete any and all entries for "Canon Pixma Mp250"
3) Shut down Windows & restart hp mini
4) Confirm there are no entries for "Canon Pixma Mp250" in Start -> Settings -> Printers and Faxes
5) Ensure you are connected to the Internet
6) Connect Mp250 to hp mini and power up the Mp250

When you get the pop-up of "Found New Hardware" have it check the Internet for drivers and/or software. Hopefully, the proper drivers and software will be installed. I would strongly suggest you shut down Windows & restart you hp mini. Good luck.

I have a mp470. Try this before the driver download. Click Start, click all programs, select Canon utilities, select mp navigator, click on mp navigator again. On my pc this opens a window where I can select Scan/import from the platen or from a memory card. If this does not work here is a link to Canon to get your drivers. Note: turn off and uninstall your MP250 before installing the new drivers. Select your operating system from the list and select your desired drivers.
