Trying to download the Cox Security Suite software. Was told to delete any Macafee on my computer. I did. Clicked on "install Cox Security Suite. A message came up " McAfee Sucuirity cannot continue- we're having trouble installin your MacAfee software because JAVA Scrlipt is not working correctly on this PC. So know I am without protection. Help!

right click the mcafee icon on screen and run as administrator and try to uninstall like that it should give you the privage that you dident before

If you downloaded the free version you shouldn't have to do anything more than run the setup file , the exe you downloaded. You do have to be administrator in order to install it however. Then you also need to go register it with an email address, but that doesn't stop it from installing. So I'm thinking the reason it isn't installing is that you don't have the authority to install, ie not administrator. If you downloaded it and clicked run instead of save and it didn't work I would get it again after making sure you're logged in as an administrator. If that doesn't work I would look for some security blocking install perhaps.

Make sure the firewall is not blocking access to the internet. Try turning off the firewall for a while... to test if that is the problem.

download install and run ccleaner
on the unistaller screen select the program
try to unistall it them remove the entry

them go to your (hard drive)=(C:\) and open the folder name (program files) select the folder containing the program you try to uninstall and delete the folder containing that particular program

Note: be carefull not to delete the folder name (program files) make sure the folder your deleting is the one containing (the system suite 8)

Delete the HP health advisor or just view the status of your antivirus using McAfee's control console

Both AVG and nod32 are quite good against viruses, but being only antivirus, and not a complete security suite, are both weak against other malaware threats.

If you do not want to buy a complete security suite like Nornon internet security, or Macafee security sute you can buy either AVG or nod32. Install a firewall like Zonealarm or similar to integrate the antivirus protection. AVG takes less RAM than nod 32, otherwise performances are similar.

If you are really worried about additional threats, you can integrate a free antivirus with a firewall and a good antimalaware like Spybot-S&D. This may slow down the computer a bit.
