Black fog came upon on the picture screen and turn completely off. Tried unplugging from the tv and electrical outlet no luck....please HELP!!!

If you have no sound and no video but you have power to the tv then you have to look at the source. Source being your Cable box. The other thing to check is to make sure that you have the proper input selected on the tv. If you have cable in Video one for example then you need to have your TV input to video one.

Can you see a picture at all or is it completely bright red? Is there sound?

Give me a model number so I can at least make an informed guess or suggestions.

Need to know how many times the led is blinking.

When you had the black screen on your TV, did you have a banner on the top of the screen displaying the channel and information about the channel? If so, then unplugging the receiver from the electrical outlet for 10 seconds and plugging back in will resolve that issue.

If you had the black screen without the banner, it is a different issue. Please let me know if you had any other messages on your TV screen (No signal, weak signal, etc.).

I find that if you unplug the cord from the connection to the TV and not the electrical outlet that it should work again but will happen often after. So far everytime I've tried this it works. Hope this helps you out!

Resetting the TV
NOTE:
Some TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time.
1. Unplug the TV power cord from the power outlet.
2. Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...)
3. Press and hold the TV power button for five seconds.
4. Plug the TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV.
5. Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the TV is responding again.
6. Turn off the TV and reconnect the devices.
7. Turn on the TV.

Not sure what the light is doing but try to reset the TV by unplugging from the A/C outlet for 5 to 10 minutes. If no fix come back with Model & brand.

This is very odd for having only have of your picture scanning. Let me ask you a couple of questions:
1. Have you tried rebooting the TV by unplugging it from the a/c outlet for 4-5 minutes, plug back in a/c/
2. Have you moved your TV recently; maybe broken mirror?

You does not mean about picture clarity before this problem occurs. Former the picture clarity is well and good means picture is not problem. There is a problem in horizontal deflection area.May be flyback transformer failure shows these type of problem. This service should be done by technical persons only.
