If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Something short circuit is there at it main digital board.

Does it have a digital tuner or not?

The thing to find out first is does it have a ATSC type (digital tuner) in it or not---if not you may need a set top converter box for this.

Try website like Remotes.com to buy the tv original remote or a very closed compatible one.

Have someone remove the back (who knows how to do it safely) and follow the power cord into the set to the power supply board.

There will be a number of round capacitors (black & gray are usual colors) that look like cyclinders on the board; the tops are silver with creases and should be PERFECTLY FLAT.

What happens is they use the cheapest voltage rated capacitors they can find; the caps are rated in value and voltage---after a few years they dry out and cause problems---a damaged cap will function when it gets hot to some degree so usually the problem is only at turn on.

Desktop computers have the same problem--recently fixed one (had to turn it on several times to get it to operate) and 5 of the caps were puffed up--rated at 10 volts with 9 volts on them all the time---replaced them (about a dollar each) with caps of the same value rated at 16 volts and bingo--computer works fine.

The reason these companies do this is if you buy 10,000 caps at 10 volts they cost less than the same caps at 16 volts---save a few pennies on every unit.

The unit will work for a while and then fail.

Hi, If you have already contacted customer support from DIRECT T.V. and they could not help ( that is to say give you a universal remote code), It's quite possible a universal remote code is not provided by SOYO. Unfortunately in is quite common for import t.v. manufacturers to NOT supply their remote controls code. This ensures the sales of replacement remote sales! If you have the original remote I can walk you through the repair process-Sorry I didn't have better news, although I hope I've been of some help. Prodzilla

not true at all. I would try to look on the power supply first for popped capacitors that supply the 24v rail for the backlight inverter.

Having sound is a positive when it comes to repair. This means that only your screen is not lighting.

If you repair the 24v line and check the 5v feed also going to the ps_on (on) the backlight inverter and you still have no picture...you will need a new inverter.

power supply unit problem you have bad caps (capacitors) change all the caps or atleast the onces they leaking how do you see if they bad usually they are bold on the top instead of flat. change it with a higher voltage but the same UF. if it shows 10V-1000uf you change to 16V-1000uf or if it fits a 25V-1000uf.

That means there are no more updates for that TV. You might want to get a newer TV.

Go to home setting on remote. Go to audio settings on tv. Adjust sound from there down to suitable level.
