The battery on the motherboard needs to be removed and the board will drain. Leave it ten mins and refit battery. It will let you into the bios where if you want you can input the password you want.

SOURCE: default bios password toshiba satellite a135-s2276

I have a Satellite A135-S2356 that had the same problem. I tried the solution from PCTServices above and it worked great.

"Power unit off. Disconnect AC power. Remove battery. Remove the memory cover screw, memory cover and the memory modules. Peel back mylar from JOPEN1 solder pad. Short JOPEN1 solder pads for 30 seconds. Replace mylar. Replace memory modules. Replace battery. Power up unit. If all is well, replace memory cover and screw."
Just short the two little solder pads and it worked great! I thought I would have to send it back to the manufacture but I am back in buisness. Thanks for the help.

what you need to do is pull both the laptop battery as well as the cmos battery. in some instances, the battery can be pulled, but on other models, i have seen the battery as an actual physical part on the motherboard or somewhere where it is not easily accessible, in which case you need to clear the cmos by using a jumper on the motherboard, since it is a laptop, they are all different. you may need to see if you can locate a copy of the motherboards schematics and go from there.

Some Toshiba's can be convinced to bypass the startup BIOS password if you hold down the <LEFT-SHIFT> key while booting the system.

Need Bios Password

I can't find a decent manual for your laptop but there will be 2 pins on the motherboard that will say BIOS Clear. Short these 2 pins and turn the computer on. This is the only way to bypass the BIOS password. This operation will clear the BIOS and reset to factory defaults. After the BIOS is cleared, turn the computer off and take off the short.

To reset the BIOS password read the information from this link.

In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.

A blue and white window with a small black window

It is a BIOS password, you would be best contacting Toshiba who will hopefully be able to provide you with a challenge and response code to remove this password. This can be done over the phone.
Hope this helps,

HARDDRIVE NOT LIGHTING UP

I perform home PC support for a number of friends and family. A friend recently contacted me who owns a Toshiba A105-S4014. He told me that the Laptop started asking him for a Password when ever it was turned on. He said that he had NEVER set any type of password and nothing he tried would resolve it. A little research at http://pcsupport.toshiba.com listed a Suppot Bulletin that talked about this EXACT problem he was having. He was not aware of a BIOS flaw that could cause this too occur and was frustrated to learn this was a KNOWN problem by Toshiba. Below is the link the the support bulletin and what systems are affected this this KNOWN PROBLEM (To Toshiba of course). You need to download and install the latest BIOS to fix the problem for your model. The program once you run it will offer you three ways to create a fix given your circumstances (Floppy, CD or via OS).
Toshiba says that if you have this problem NOW. Then you can take your Laptop to any authorized service provider who will FIX the problem FREE OF CHARGE to you because Toshiba is aware this is their problem! See link below for more detail.

It sucks to have this problem and its one hell of an inconvenience for Toshiba laptop owners!
