De500 pump failure

Pump light is on, water collects in tank, but not being pumped out.

I agree with Mike Kolbay's earlier very complete answer. The water intake to the pump is quite narrow, and clogs easily with accumulated lint and bacterial muck. While the covers are off the machine, thoroughly clean the drip tray and all the water passages. A piece of crud the size of your smallest fingernail can cause water to overflow onto the floor, rather than going into the tank.

I just fixed the same problem on my DE-500P. The pump filter was blocked and there was a layer of scummy lint-like stuff in the bottom of the pump reservoir (not the main - or overflow tank) also blocking flow down through the filter to the pump. Repair steps are as follows:

1. Remove the overflow water tank and the two side covers (five screws in each). Note that as you go through the removal of all the covers and other procedures, there are two lengths of screws; don't switch them. If you lose track, the rule of thumb is use the short screws for going through a single layer of plastic into metal.

2. Remove the rear cover (take out the screws along the bottom and on the sides). It will still be attached to the front top cover at the top with tab fasteners. Gently pull out the bottom of the cover while depressing the top of it on both sides with your thumbs (about an inch and a half inside the trim ridges) to clear the tabs. Ease the top part of the cover back and remove it (it will have to tilt to one side, don't forget this when putting it back on).

3. Remove the top cover, not forgetting the two screws on top by where the back cover attached (go gently, there's a wiring harness) and turn it to the side. There was enough slack to leave the wires connected; just be careful to not damage them.

4. The filter looks like a small transparent in-line gas filter. Remove the pump filter, leaving the short tube attached to the top of it. I quickly atttached a length of tubing to drain the reservoir into a bucket. I couldn't find a replacement filter, so I filed a slot in the side of the bottom half of it to remove the gunk using the wire from a twist tie (the upper half had some tabs inside that would have been in the way). Afterwards, I wrapped it tightly with stretchy electrical tape and put a wire tie over the tape at the slot to keep the tape from being able to creep loose over time. Don't use a fuel filter, the paper element is too fine (you need a screen) and the paper will fall apart in water.

4. Remove the float and bracket from the pump reservoir. The reservoir screws are not all apparent; there's also a screw way over on the left and one coming in from the right. I used a 12 inch #2 phillips screwdriver with a magnetized tip for most of this. Remove the pump reservoir and clean out the scummy stuff in the bottom and where the tubes attach. When removing the reservoir, you'll have to detach the vent line that goes through the bulkhead to where the big tank was and pull the tab above it down slightly while easing the tank out.

5. Clean out any dirty tubes, paying particular attention to the coupling for the drain hose and the long drain hose itself.

6. Put the reservoir back in and hook up all the tubes and filter. It does make a difference in which direction the filter goes back in. You want the water from the reservoir to go through the filter from the outside of the little screen; that leaves the maximum room for crud build-up before it plugs up the screen again.

7. Depending on your confidence level, at this point you may want to plug in the dehumidfier, put the overflow tank in, turn it on, turn on the pump, and fill the pump reservoir to check for functioning and leaks. If you do this, just remember that the circuits are hot and not all are insulated.

8. If all is OK, unplug the dehumidifier and put the covers back on. Total time was about an hour.

I have the same problem. Very annoying. My suggestion is to go to your nearest dealer and throw the unit through their front window.

SOURCE: Hi I have a delonghi

Check to see if the filter before the pump is plugged or restricted.I washed mine out with a bleach/water solution.

SOURCE: Pump not pumping

It's not a one way valve, it's a water strainer. It has a barrel with a fitting on each end, the upper leads into the barrel, the lower has a strainer tube attached. When it's plugging up, it seems like a one-way valve because when you try to force water into the top, it pushes the lint and junk against the strainer screen, blocking it. When you try to force water in from the bottom, the water pushes the lint away from the screen, allowing a reduced flow. Some have an arrow; it's to indicate flow direction to keep the lint on the outside of the screen; the inside, being mush smaller than the barrel, would plug up much sooner. Before you replace the strainer, clean the lint & stuff out of the small pump reservoir (above the pump). If you don't, the strainer will plug up quickly again, if it can even get water to it.

I have an Idylis dehumidifer with pump model 0526051 does it need a hose in the water tank to pick up the water in the tank?

Normally dehumidifiers collect the water that they have pulled from the air in the tank. Therfore no hose is required. You just have to empty the tank when full. Most models have a float switch which shuts off the machine when the tank is full. Hoses to get rid of water are normally only fitted on industrial machines.

I think this means your pump is not working, and therefore the tank is full. The pump could just be switched off, could have failed, or could be clogged. See the other messages regarding this model, for an excellent description of how to clean out a clogged pump.

Delonghi dehumidifier overflows

these humidifiers are total junk. The sensors are cheap and get stuck or broken so easily. for your problem tho, you can either find the sensor by taking off the cover and use your hands to break free any stuff causing it to get stuck or you can drill a hole in the water tank and insert some fish tank tubing and let the water drain out as it collects.

Where do i find the model number for an older model goldstar dehumidifier and where can i buy a hose to connect it directly to the sump pump?

Any garden hose will fit the drain connection on your dehumidifier. However, the hose can not be longer than 5 feet. As the drainage relies entirely on gravity to drain. Connecting it directly to a sump pump is not a good solution. Allowing the hose to drain into the sump pump's water collection tank is your only option.

/my dehumidifier has a hose attachment on the back. how does that work?

The hose attachment is used in place of the water collection bucket, to drain the water directly into a floor drain or a sump pump holding tank. A garden hose is connected to the "hose attachment" and run to the floor drain or sump pump holding tank. However, it will not drain UP, only DOWN.

Attached a pump to drain collected water. The

the water should still collect into the tank. the dehumidifier had a float switch that shut the unit off when the tank is full. In turn it should have a second switch, probably a float switch that turns the pump on and off so that the pump doesnt continue to run when there is no moisture in the tank

De500p dehumidifier pump stopped working, help!!!

I only got as far as disconnecting the filter between the small water bucket and the pump. I was able to get the pump working again after I cleaned the water bucket and filter by flushing them repeatedly with fresh water. The lines after the pump contained cloudy water, but I figured since the pump was able to push it out past the pump already, it shouldn't cause problems this far down. It saved a lot of time and hard work not having to disconnet the rest of the tubing or take the water bucket off. I also realized if I disconnet the first water collection tubing from just under the front panel and point the open end down, all the water in the bucket flows out. This part is so easy to get to. Just pull out the big collection tank and it's right there on the left toward the back. I can do this every week! Maybe then nothing will sit long enough in the small water bucket to turn into any kind of filter-clogging material.

DE 500P

This tube is likely related to the water pump out feature that these have. They have a pinch clamp on connections, perhaps your clamp is loose or misaligned.
