Hello
The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

Thanks Dennis Died out ,crank won't start. Caused by wire harness inside high pressure pump cover was shorted to ground blowing fuse. Cab off $1884,92 fix

  • Anonymous Aug 23, 2012

That happened to mine as well. My fix was covered under the extended warranty package I had purchased. I was shown the problem wiring harness as well as the "fix". Ford knew of the problem early on but did not do a recall. They also charged those not under warranty when the wiring harness shorted out. My cab was pulled 3 times due to oil leaks after the fix.

Stalled after car wash and now won't stay on after starting.

odds are it just needs to dry out...many vehicles when thoroughly wet will display a rough idle or stall. while at the car wash its possible several electrical components got wet causing electrical current to stray from its desired path leading to loss of power to vital components...if this is the case the moisture that caused this problem should evaporate with time

94 nissan altima won't start and iddle after cleaning IACV valve

An IAC (idle air control) motor is designed to adjust the engine idle RPM speed by opening and closing an air bypass passage inside the throttle body. The cars computer or PCM (powertrain control module) receives information from various sensors and will output signals to adjust the idle air control motor in or out to adjust engine idle speed by controlling engine idle air. An idle air control motor can fail one of two ways, either the motor short circuits and stops working or the motor will develop high resistance and cause the idle air control motor to react slowly, either failure can cause the engine to stall at idle. When a trouble code scan is performed it sometimes won't always detect a failed or weak idle air control motor.

My 1988 dodge Dakota 3.9 3 speed automatic 2 w Dr.idles rough and sometimes dies at a stop light and won't restart unless I put the gassed peddle to the floor.when it does finally start I have to keep...

Replace your hose going from intake to brake booster ( vacuum leak) check all other hoses also. Clean the throttle body. And a tune up probably wont hurt either.
