Rice cooker does not work

Since the rice did not work, and I heard noises like loose screws, I decided to open it up to check. I found the screws loose and a flat plate that should sit somewhere free. Three screws I beleive were missing. I put 2 back since those were obvious, the third has to do with the flat rectangular metal plate. I done seem to know if it touches the bottom or not

Any chance you could post a photo? Often these machines have a deflector that reduces the heat applied to the middle of the pan - it sounds as if that is the item you are talking about - there may have been a small ceramic ring or block that the screw went through which would put it a little above the element or a little below the pan base. look in the floor beneath the element for screw holes. Hope this helps - if not please post again, with photos if possible :)

PS is also possibly a heat shield for the control electronics - search around the element area and you could find the place where it goes :)

I had a burnt wire smeel and the cooker turned off.how to fix it.

There could be something "blown " inside. have a close look underneath for screws so that you can undo and have a look at the components inside. Check for burnt wiring or terminals. Replace a s required. These type of cookers also have an overheat device which may have tripped if it overheated. You will need a multimeter to check if that has "open circuited"

I have a 5 cup riceperfect cooker, how much water to rice do i need

I also had problems deciding how much water to use - the measuring cup that came with the machine was not user friendly! I just use twice as much water as rice and it works fine. ie. - 1cup rice and 2 cups water I have a different model of cooker but a friend had the same issue and uses the 2/1 ratio and it works fine for her also. Good luck

Suddenly the rice cooker stops working

If you have had it for a while.. the keep warm function may not work if the one of the 2 wires for the lid temp sensor plate have broken in the hinge area. This is a very common failure in well used rice cookers.

Hitachi Rice Cooker/Steamer RD-5083. Need new plastic top for the metal lid of cooker.

hi, I'm looking for the user's manual and found your question.
You can fix it using a piece of wood and screwing it with a Stainless Steel sheetmetal screw (like a #6x1/2"lg ss)
You can also painted if you like it.

No instrution manual

You are an *******....Just to be blunt....This person is asking how to cook the rice to water ration in the rival 6 cup rice cooker and that ratio is like other ways to cook rice, which you are completely wrong about maybe you should take some lessons on how to cook. Its 1 PART RICE TO 2 PARTS WATER....NOT EQUAL, and in the cooker its 2 cups rice and 4 cups water makes a perfect pot!

Rice cooker

First you have to make sure that the power outlet is working fine using a Multi Tester. Next is disconnect the Power Plug from the Rice Cooker and test continuity within the cord.  make sure those two are both working good.  next step is to open the Rice Cooker Bottom.  Again using a multi tester, Test the continuity of the Thermostat, make sure multi tester setting is on the ohm setting. reading should be zero, if reading is higher than 200 ohms, the thermostat is defective.  Which is the reason why your cooker is not turning on is due to an open in the circuitry.  Check warranty with the store you purchased it from or the manufacturer of the rice cooker.
