Barista burr grinder,

Barista (Solis 166) grinds but does not move ground coffee into slot... I think the grinders are not close enough...I took the top grind apart and used a wire to clean out any old coffee grounds... the slot is clear... each time I try and grind, the burr grinder does not move the ground coffee thru the slot... it just packs in the bottom of the grinder please recommend... thanks

Check the paddle wheel under the lower (conical) burr. You should be able to see vertical paddles that move the ground coffee. If any are broken or missing (very common if you've used rice intead of Grindz to clean the burrs) you need a new paddle wheel, which you can buy from Baratza.

SOURCE: My Barista Burr Coffee Grinder suddenly grinds too fine.

If it is any consolation, mine just did the same thing, now takes too long to grind and it is way to fine dispite a thorough cleaning by disassembly.

I took my Starbucks Barista Conical Burr Grinder apart to clean it, and now I cannot seem to get the top burr back on. This is an old model, purchased in 2000, and has been running great. I used to manage...

I think when you fix the front burr then you need to loose the middle screw. Then it will fix easily.
But don't run it right away.gently tighten the screw and tight until you feel some tightness .Then start the grinder and tighten or loose it according to your grinding specification

Cleaned the Solis Maestro grinder and re set it to a fine espresso setting but the grind is coming out very course. What should i do?

Hi Your burr is not locked in. You need to remove the beans from the hopper. Remove the hopper. Remove the burr. Turn the grinder upside down over the trash can. Put the burr back in only make sure that the burr is down. Install the bean hopper and when you turn the bean hopper it should move the burr. Then you can adjust your grind. Make sure that the grinder is running is your going to a finer grind or you could break the grinder. You can turn it to a coarse grind any time.

Not fine enough grind

This model grinder won't do espresso. There is a DIY mod available online that involves disassembling the machine, and recalibrating the burrs to produce a finer grind. I did it on mine, it was definitely better, but it's not going to get you to the coveted 30 second pull for your espresso. Search on Starbucks Barista Grinder Mod. It is a great grinder otherwise, very reliable.

Oily beans seem to have clogged our coffee grinder up. What can we do?

Rotate the bean hopper counter clockwise until it stops. Lift it off. Remove the outer burr with the 2 wings and clean under the burr. Clean the opening going to the chute for ground coffee(inside where the burr was).
Install the outer burr. Install the bean hopper. Rotate the bean hopper to the French press grind (coarsest) and operate the grinder. This will clean the burrs and the passages. If it starts to clog, repeat the last part to clean the burrs and passage. It must be grinding to go to a finer setting, but you can go to a coarser setting any time. Another thing. Turn the grinder upside down (empty) and rotate the bean hopper back and forth to clean the threads of the adjusting burr..
