SOURCE: the lower stitch (under the fabric) is using too much thread

Check everywhere to get lint plugs out of the way and change your needle. Make sure it's in correctly. And, make sure you're threading correctly...don't forget the take-up hook.

SOURCE: Sewing machine problem

I just solved this problem with much persistence and a few possible causes. Mkae sure the thread is good quality and cant shred, at least until problem is fiwed. Unscrew plate behind bibbin and check if there is any caught thread, this happens after bottom thread has been looping. Remove any and replace, wind down the needle to check it goes in the centre of hole.
And probably the most important fix it; the tension;
Have your tension set to zero, thread the machine, and when the foot is DOWN, make sure it is very hard to pull the thread. It should be easy to pull the thread when the foot is UP. If the thread is easy both ways it has not caught correctly in the tension plates, thread it again (and again) until this happens. It shouldn't be possible to thread the machine without it going in the right place, but it is. And make sure when you rethread that the foot is UP until you thread the needle-
Another problem maker I also had to fix; ever so slightly bent needle.

SOURCE: Bicor vx1005 ...thread keeps bunching

Try a different bobbin. Look for one that is a little narrower. I had the same problem and changing to a narrower bobbin fixed it.

SOURCE: Looping thread bottom side of fabric

That means you have not routed the bobbin thread properly, or bobbin has not been filled properly. Could also mean your tension is incorrect.

SOURCE: the thread keeps bunching up

Totally rethread and put in a fresh needle. It should work wonders, if not go to brother-usa.com and troubleshoot

Thread keeps bunching up under shuttle ****

Your tension must be wrong. If the top tension is too weak the thread on the bottom is not being pulled through the fabric to form a proper stitch. Try different tensions on scraps of fabric.

I need a manual or instructions for my old Dressmaker2000 deluxe precision sewing machine Sn.05940

http://www.dressmakermanuals.com/

Try this:

Install a brand new needle.
Remove the top thread from the machine.
Use only good quality thread in top and bobbin--no old or bargain bin variety.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning.
Start with the top tension set at about the midway point and retest your machine. If the top thread is showing on the bottom of the fabric, increase the top tension until the two thread meet in the middle of the fabric.

If the thread makes a big knarl of thread when you begin stitching, you might try pulling the bobbin thread to the top of the fabric and hold both thread tails in your left hand while taking the first couple stitches.

Top stitch is fine bottom is loose. Have tried adjusting tension but not working. If I get tension too tight breaks thread so I gradually change tension to no avail. Please help

Check your stitch sample. The loose stitches under the fabric--are they actually top thread???? Usually, stitch problems under the fabric is a result of a top thread problem. In this case, it could be bird nesting.

Remove the top thread from the machine.
Install a brand new needle.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot.
Rethread from the beginning.

I checked my thread and bobbin watch the video and my machine keep bunches the bottom stitch

Is it really the bobbin thread that is bunching? Generally, thread messes under the fabric are the fault of the top thread, and thread messes on top of the fabric are a bobbin problem.

Top thread bunching under the fabric is called "thread nesting" or "bird nesting" but I prefer to call it thread "barfs." Most often, it occurs because the top thread has not been seated completely in the tension disk.

Install a brand new needle.
Remove the top thread from the machine.
RAISE the presser foot and rethread the top thread.
(Verify the thread path is correct.)
Set the top tension disk at the midway point.

Retest your machine. Tweak the top tension if required.

When i run a straight stitch, the top of the fabric looks well sewn; the thread on the bottom of the fabric, however, bunches up-it looks nothing like the top stitch.

Is it really the bobbin thread that is bunching under the fabric, or is it really the top thread that is creating loops and "bird nests" under the fabric???

Rethread your upper thread. BEFORE you thread the upper thread, be sure to RAISE the presser foot. This releases the upper thread tension disks so the thread is firmly seated in the tension disk.

If it continues to be a problem, then the upper tension needs to be tightened. Adjust slightly, then test. Repeat until the upper and lower threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

When "locking " a stitch, bottom thread breaks and/ or bunches up.

Make sure you hold thread in back of the lowered presser foot when you begin stitching, and that the needle is piercing the fabric so that the fabric isn't slipping down into the feed dogs (under needle plate area).Hope this helps you out, alexlefebvre.Jimmy

Sewing a bunch of thread from the bottom, this stops the machine from actually sewing

Yes, it does. There are a couple of reasons the bobbin thread could be bunching up on the underside of the fabric. It could simply be that the machine needs cleaning. Take the bobbin assembly out, brush all the old lint out as best you can, reoil the machine once it's all clean, and make sure there aren't any little bits of thread caught in the bobbin assembly. Rethread the machine (carefully) and change the needle. This solves the problem usually--especially if the machine was sewing along fine and the problem develops suddenly. '
The other thing to check is your tension. It could be that the top tension is too loose. But different color thread in the top and in the bobbin, stitch a few inches (be sure to held the top and bobbin thread ends behind your needle as you start to stitch) and check. WIth the pressure foot down, adjust the tension, and stitch again. Keep stitching, checking, and adjusting until you see little if any bobbin thread on the top or top thread on the bobbin.
Another thing to reminder: use the appropriate thread and needle for the fabric you're sewing.
Let me know if this works, ok?
