Battery drains quickly during normal even without using video and cameras.

Rechargeable batteries do wear out, and don't hold charge as well. It's about time to get some new batteries.

Apps and services in the background drain your phone even while in standby mode. Turning off your 3G or 4G connection will deprive you of the internet but it will still permit you to get phone calls. Meanwhile, you are not having apps such as Google constantly draining your power in the background. And they are, even in standby mode. Charge your phone frequently to help preserve battery life.

how long do you usually charged the batt? to make charge last slightly longer leave the batt inside the charger for an hour after the charger light goes off. if you have a fully charged batt you should be able to take approx. 300 pics or 2.5hrs approx.batt life. for viewing pics it should give you approx. 6800 pics and approx. 5.5 hrs. of course, number of still images and and batt life may vary depending on the camera settings.so if you're zooming in and out,using the flash,going from camera to play mode, turning cam on and off, using other settings and features of the camera, this will cause the batt to drain much faster.also ambient temperature also affects batt life.if it's very cold, the batt drains a bit faster.also, it's recommended that if you're not using the camera to remove the batt.retaining the camera settings, date & time will cause batt to drain even if your not using it. if did this and still you think it's odd that your batt drains quickly and looses charge even if it's fully charge, it might also indicate that what you might be a defective batt. one way to find out is to try using the same type of batt from a friend or a relative that has one to confirm and further isolate issue.anyway, supplied accessories has the same warranty that applies to your camera.so you may send it out and have it replaced if needed.hope this helps.thanks:)

Since you have a new battery and charger then we can eliminate that part of the hardware. That leaves an internal camera problem or how you are using the camera.

The #1 power drain is the flash. If you are taking a lot of pictures with the flash it will quickly drain a battery even if everything is working perfectly. You can try turning the flash off or down to see if this helps. The other thing is using the camera to look at your pictures. Not anywhere as big a drain as the flash but it does use some. As well using the camera to take videos or view them is higher drain. And taking big high quality pictures is more drain than smaller ones.

You may have an internal hardware problem in the camera itself. If the flash doesn't make a difference then I'd be inclined to think its the camera. If it looks that way to you after seeing what it does without the flash and so on then I would first check to make sure you have warranty and send it in to your local repair depot. You can find that by going to the Kodak web page and looking under support. You may want to talk to them and see if they can suggest anything else. And make sure you know what the replacement cost is before sending it in. Usually the repair cost is fixed but by the time everything is paid is shipping then it may be cheaper just to go get a new camera.

Battery drain the one of the top things that make people upset over cameras. It siits number one over lens errors. The only thing I can say is that your LCD screen is the culprit. The LCD screen is a vampire that sucks batteries quicker than zooming the lens. There is nothing that you can do about it. The amps that a camera uses during normal operation is pretty severe.
You can do some things to help lessen the impact on your batteries.
First. Turn off your LCD screen. Use the viewfinder to sight in all your shots. You can save up to 75 percent of your battery life if you turn it off and use the viewfinder. Second is...zoom less. What usually happens is, you start to take a shot, and you want to get closer, so you so you zoom in. Then you might decide that maybe you have zoomed too much. Then you wind up zooming back out. - Instead, try and get closer to your subject if you can.
There is no magic fix for battery drain. Just remember that everytime you perform a function on your camera, you drain the battery. Hope this helps.

Actually I have this camera and one that didn't stay on without fresh batteries every few minutes was given to me to tinker with. It is a software problem and if you are patient and follow the directions exactly...a simple firmware upgrade should resolve this issue for you.

Locate the blue box on the left that says QUICK LINKS and then click on FIRMWARE UPGRADES and locate your camera model. I hope this is helpful.

some models of camera do this, it's like a standby mode.

you can bypass this by blocking the terminals with a piece of paper or plastic, which you remove when you want to use, this should protect the battery life, however you will have to remove the paper/plastic when you wish to use the camera.
