How can I get Itunes to work on Ubuntu Operating Syste,

Good Day

I just purchased an IPhone and want to download Itunes to my laptop. My laptop runs the Ubuntu operating system. I have been unable to download itunes successfully and receive an error message stating file not recognizable. Is there a itunes equivalent which will work on Ubuntu and connect with my Iphone?

Thank You

The short answer is: realistically, you can't.

The longer answer is: while some folks report that they've gotten iTunes to run under Linux/Ubuntu w/ Wine, it ain't pretty, and it probably won't recognize your iPhone.

The much longer answer is: I finally broke down and got a refurbished PC w/ Windows Vista on it mainly so my 3 sons and I could manage our iPods (3 iPod Videos and a Nano). I still don't like iTunes, and rarely if ever buy any music with it (I download most of my music from amazon.com these days), but it remains the only sure way to manage your iPod and/or iPhone until Apple decides to open their specs.

Sorry to be a downer...you might just get it to work if you put a LOT of time and effort into Wine or running Windows in a virtual machine, but the easiest (and perhaps cheapest in the long run) way to go is to have a cheap Windows machine around.

Good day, i have a laptop that i purchased with Ubuntu 12.04 pre-installed i now wish to change to win 8.1 but i dont know how to do it please assist, ive tried everything i could think of

My Suggestion would be to stick with Ubuntu. Windows 8.1 will be much slower on the same computer.

However, if you do really need Windows, my suggestion would be do run it under Ubuntu using VirtualBox (free) and then install the Extension pack which you can download from the Tools menu, when you have your OS running. This then gives you full screen. For your communications, make sure that your network adapter has been set to 'Bridged'

How do i copy ipad to ipod

It's not a complex task. Actually, there are several ways you can resort to copy iPad to iPod. Just follow below steps.

1. Run iTunes and choose "Edit > Preference > Device > Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically" at the upper left corner of the window.
2. Plug the old iPhone into computer via the USB cable, and iTunes will recognize your old iPhone. Right-click the name of your iPhone and choose "Back Up Now" in the drop-down menu. iTunes will create a backup of your iPhone, and you may have to wait for a while until iTunes finishes backing up your iPhone.
Restore from iTunes Backup
3. Disconnect the old iPhone and plug in the new iPhone. After iTunes recognized the new iPhone, and at the "Set Up iPhone" screen, select "Restore from iTunes Backup". >5. Select the most recent backup you just made from the restore menu in iTunes, then click "Continue". When the restoring process is done, the new iPhone will restart. And you have finished to clone iPhone to new iPhone.
When the restoring process is finished, the data will be imported into your new iPhone, but the media files, such as music, videos and so on, won't be transferred to the new iPhone. If you have purchased albums in iTunes Store, you will have the songs in your purchased history, and you are able to download the songs on your new iPhone directly by entering iTunes Store with your Apple ID. You'll need good Wi-Fi connection to finish the task.

How to install ubuntu linux apple macbook pro notebook

Safest option would be to purchase a specialised virtualisation software product like paralleles Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac The 1 choice of customers worldwide to run. OR Fusion http://www.vmware.com/au/products/fusion

then download an .iso which is a cd image of Ubuntu
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/burn-a-dvd-on-mac-osx

the LTS version of Ubuntu stands for long term support, the version that
will most likely work on your mac will be the 64bit version.

I would suggest using a virtualisation program rather than replacing the
mac operating system so that you can be running both mac os and ubuntu
at the same time, without having to shutdown one to access the other.

Hopr this helps.

I have photos on my 3g apple iphone I want to share on my laptop how do I download them from my phone to my laptop????

Hi,
here is a smart way to help you,

Download SetupiPhoneBrowser.1.7.exe

for windows xp
http://code.google.com/p/iphonebrowser/downloads/list

for mac:
http://www.downloadoldversion.com/iphone-explorer-for-mac.html

Run the installer on your Windows XP (May not work well on Vista).
Upgrade your iTunes to 7.7.1 (it works on iTunes 7.7 as well).

Open the iPhoneBrowser and connect your iPhone to the computer via the USB cable. The iPhoneBrowser should detect the iPhone and show the file structure on its screen. You can now drag and drop files to the iPhone.

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

I have been given a acer veriton 5100 it has a program called ubuntu it does not have windows program and will not auto run disks that i insert can you give advise

"Ubuntu" is a Linux operating system, not a Windows operating system. It will not run any windows programs or autoplay any windows CD's unless you have an "emulator" or hypervisor installed, which is not by default. Here is a link to the Ubuntu website that you can browse to find out more information on that Operating System - http://www.ubuntu.org  There you can research the running of a Windows emulator called "WINE" (much to detailed to get into here). Or you can purchase a 3rd party hypervisor, such as VMware Workstation, that will run a virtualized copy of a Windows operating system (such as XP) inside Ubuntu.
Long story short - you cannot use your Windows disks in this laptop with Ubuntu operating system installed without a add-on emulator or program.
Good luck!
