Hi, i had the same problem and was suggested i visited the JVC website, this could be the manufacturers error reported on their web site. Failure of the CCD image sensor. Check JVC UK web site, support centre, if your camcorder has the problems listed, until 01/10/07 they will cover repairs. Mine now works ok. Hope this helps

i have a jvc GR-C1 camcorder. When i press record i can see it recording through the view finder. When i play back what i have recorded it shows what you see on an emply tape, nothing. Can anyone help me. Thanks.
Hi, your ccd is bad, good news, JVC will replace it for free. Go to www.jvc.com and select support, then select customer notification from the left side and then select ccd replacement program and follow the instructions, JVC had a lot of these go bad but has done an excelent job of correcting the problem
sounds like the ribbon tape needs to be replaced , or its not connected right , open unit and check for a white tape that connects to the PCboard to the LCD or VIEWFINDER . hope this helps
If the view finder shows the same white display. You probably have display circuit problem in the camera. Faulty CCD chip usually shows Black screen so it probably board problem or a connector problem. If you see an image through view finder then you may have defective connection from board to LCD assy. Either way it need to be looked at by a trained technician. Good luck.
