SOURCE: air compressor 3 gallon

I had mine do the same thing... The head gasket blew out between the intake & discharge side.
I went to O'rileys and bought the blue gasket paper and cut out a new one ($3.00) works fine now.
Just take off the plastic cover, undo the discharge line at the compressor head, remove 4 allen
head bolts, lift off cylinder head and you'll see the gasket gone at the center bridge.
Draw a picture of the way the valve plate under the head is assembled so it goes back together right.
Use care cleaning the old gasket off, NO power tools....Hand wire brush to preserve the little ridges
that bite into the gasket, Soak with solvent helps..You can also order the gasket kit from Sears
about $12.00...Hope this helps ya......John

SOURCE: 6 gallon proforce air compressor not building any pressure

You might have a broken valve. You'll need to pull the head apart. But make sure replacement parts are available first. Does this unit have an unloader valve on it ? That could also be your problem. You probably should check this first

Campbell 5 hp 26 gallon compressor. Why isn't air pressure indicated on gages?

If you run the compressor with the gauges removed, does air come out of that port? If yes, does the compressor build up enough pressure when the gauges are attached to give you enough air pressure at the end of the hose? If yes, then the gauges are bad.
If you are not getting enough air pressure to do any work, then there is still a problem with the compressor. Check the unloader valve (release valve) on the pressure switch to make sure it's not leaking when the compressor is running.

Air compressor slow to build pressure, and noisy.

All large air compressors are very noisy.

How long it takes to come up to pressure depends on the size of the compressor piston(s), how fast they are running and the size of the air tank attached to it. (and if the tank or hoses have leaks)
A 20 gallon tank could easily take 10 minutes to get all the way up to 120 psi. 120 is very high, and probably the limit for the compressor. Depending on what you're using it for, try dropping the setting to say 80-90psi.
