The other day I left my dryer on and when I got home there was a burning smell coming from the dryer and it had tripped the house breaker. Now when I plug it in and turn it on I only get a noise from the timer, and the heater is also heating up. I am not getting any noise from the motor and the drum does not spin. The belt is fine. Does anyone know where the problem may be coming from or how to fix this? Thanks in advance.
Sounds like you have a heater that is shorted to ground which will cause the unit continouoly heat but will not allow unit to start, in addition you may have a bad push to start switch or bad mtr centrifical switch. Best advice is to unplug until a tech can look at it or by a new one

SOURCE: Roper Electric Dryer Heats but drum won't spin
Yank the filter out the top. Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing. Use a putty knife to pop the top and then remove the screws holding the front on. NOTE: raise up on the front panel slightly so you won't damage the bottom clips. Get the front out yer way and remove the drum. Clean out the dryer and oil the rollers and idler. Use this handy ROUTING GUIDE to see how to put the belt back.

Depending on the type of door the dryer has, is how you approach the
access of these dryers. Mostly though you yank out the filter
first.Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing on top. Then use a putty
knife to pop the top. Remove the screws holding the front panel on.
VERY IMPORTANT! Raise the front up an inch before pulling forward or
the panel clips will break! Some models have a panel on bottom. If they
do then this panel must come off first. Then you remove the door
springs and back off the screws holding down the bottom of the door
panel. Then pop the top and remove the screws on top to get the panel
out of your way. Yank out the tub. Clean the junk out (send me the coinery) oil the wheels and Idler with temp resistant zoomoil from ace hardware. Use this guide to replace dat belt Kimosabe:

SOURCE: Burning Smell from Belt on Whirlpool Dryer
Hi, You need to check and see if the belt has slipped off of one of the pulleys. Was the idler the wheels style or a glide style?
Make sure the grooves in the belt are facing the drum and they are in the grooves of the motor pulley.
Please let me know if this helps and if I can assist you further.

SOURCE: tumbler spins, heat won't go on, timer won't work
It is your operating thermostat. It controls the heat and runs the timer down.
