Hi! does anyone here know how to disassemble the ASUS D1T portable PC? i need to replace my CMOS battery but i can't dismantle my laptop. thanks!
Thanks Steel Breeze!! I did exact as you suggested and it was easy. I used a Dremmal tool to cut a squre holes. You can actaully see part of the battery (CR2032) through one of the existing holes.
The cmos battery is held beneath the plastic shelf directly below the hard-drive. You will either need to force the shell apart enough to get to it; or, do like I did and remove the HD and carefully use an exacto knife to cut a small square out of the HD shelf. Just remember to cit slowly and let the knife do the work, not forcing it through the plastic! Patience grasshopper will bring great rewards! Hope this helps! J
I had the same problem looking for the CMOS battery and literally removed every possible screw I could find. The upside was that I gave every nook and cranny a thorough cleaning (there was a considerable amount of crud built up especially on the heat sink and fan) but I still couldn't locate the damn battery compartment. Steel Breeze's solution was right on the money and spared me the hassle of taking apart the LCD panel. I used a Dremel tool to cut a semi-circular flap around the battery, which I slipped off with a pair of forceps and replaced with a new one. Now I'm one happy camper!
It's difficult to say but you will need to remove the underside screws and also maybe even the keyboard as it's often attached to the base. The cmos battery could also be behind the screen.
I'm sorry but I dont have any personal experiences with your particular laptop, but the lcd's are generally held in with 1 screw in each corner normally covered by a rubber bung hiding the screws, I would be very carefull not to disconnect any wires behind the screen, if yor not sure take it to a qualified repairer.
You will probably have to remove the top panel just below the hinges as they may be held in underneath

thanks for the response! ive tried all those but there are some parts i cannot remove, i have succeeded removing the keyboard, etc but cant seem to take the LCD, is there anyway i can personally contact you mr Sandrew so i can send pics, dont worry just a few problems for not that much, thanks!
