Dvd plays for 5 mins maybe 10 then stops playing switches itself off wont power up again for a few mins even do the red light comes on

Sorry but the control board is shot that's why there inexpensive to purchase they only last for 3 to 5 years

the 12v constant and the 12v memory wires are probably backwards

when it happens, give it some time, like 5-10 min. the ps3 is most likely accessing the hard drive, and if it is, shutting down in the middle of it could currupt your hdd. if it doesnt work, even after 10 min, call sony tech support, but if it works fine afterwords, i dont see why it would be neccessary. unless it gets worse, i think you should just turn it on, turn it off after a few min, then back on, and then play.

This is most likely a problem with the power supply to the drive motor. A component is breaking down and the supply voltage is dropping below operational levels after warming up.This is a problem that needs service in a service center or someone who is a experienced electronic technician to take apart the unit and test it for bad components.Hope this help you with your problems.

It's overheating. That's why it works longer the first time and you have to wait a few minutes for it to cool. Try using some compressed air and cleaning the vents out below. If that doesn't work then you'll have to remove and replace the thermal compound on the GPU and CPU.

the lens on laser needs cleaning manually never use disc cleaners ever

Clean your lens with disk clear! Otherwise you want to change your lens in DVD player!

have you tryed pressing play for 5 seconds.....

The HT-DB120 has an automatic shut down that should turn off after 20 min of idle mode, it seems yours is malfunctioning. try disconecting the DVD from power for a few minutes.
