I'm looking for a wiring diagram of an Emachines W2040 motherboard. I client brought this particular desktop to me to be fix. She says she's been having probs booting up. I opened the case and there were jumpers loose inside the case as well as loose RAM, and no power hooked up to the board. She says her boys may have tampered with it. I'd like to get a good diagram so I can check the entire board. Having no luck with Emachines support atm. Can you help?

If you are replacing the power supply and it has 4 pin 12v conector and your motherboard doesn't, just disregard the 4 pin plug. The 20 pin conector will supply sufficient power for the processor. Many of the older motherboards did not have a separate 12v supply for the processor.

I have been tried to power up this emachine T3958 but no such luck. I accidently pulled the PWR S/W, HDD Led and PWR Led for the hard drive and I dont know how to replace the wires on the motherboard . Can't find a system board diagram online. Does any one know how the connectors fit on the motherboard?

The header connections that you are looking for are on the edge of the motherboard near the battery. Look for a group of gold contacts sticking straight up at you. The silkscreen tells you which header are for what light or switch. You will see one that says "PWR LED". Another says "PWR SW" Another says "HDD LED". They are printed very small. You will see others in that vicinity that say "SAST1" and "SPKR". Ignore them.Look along the edge where the battery is mounted some are located around the nearby corner but still along the edge. All should be on the edge nearst the front of your machine. Others may be along the edge facing the bottom of your machine.
