My Dell Vostro won't turn on at all. I also tried calling Dell and they said, sorry no warranty. We've only had it for 13 months.

    It is very frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I highly recommend not buying Dell Vostro despite the attractive price.

Right now it is a $500 paper weight.

Same probem. It's not the battary or cord - I have a friend with the same model and I used that power cord with no results.I then changed the battary and no results.

When the power button is pressed, thepwer light turns on.the lights flash on but go off immediately. The CD lights come on and the drawer will open and I can hear something inside (fan), but thats it.

The power connector within the laptop maybe broken. Not sure about Dell's but many laptops have only solder points holding the internal power connector to the motherboard. With too much agitation, the internal power connector becomes loose and then broken.

More info will help, does a light show on the laptop when it is plugged in? Have you tried removing the battery and lettting the laptop sit for about 10 mins, without any power? Have you re-seated the ram?

These are all possibilities of the symptom you have.
Let me know and G'luck!

check the AC adapter and power cord. if the power cables are fine. it would mean a motherboard replacement and you need to call the DELL Support team

My Dell Vostro 1000 keeps shutting off. Cure?

I am having the same problem.
I used to think that maybe the problem was related to overheating so I I bought a cooling pad with fan. This improved the situation somewhat, but, the problem continues.
My friend thinks it is related to the power supply/power cord.

Dell vostro 1000 laptop power problem.when you plug in the power supply before its plugged into the computer the green lite is onwhen you plug the adapter into the laptop the light goes out and there...

older vostros usually have a broken dc jack right where the power connector plugs in. otherwise try another ac adapter and also try removing and replacing the battery underneath.

My dell vostro 1000 won't turn on the green light

Try to do this: (Draining flea power)
1. Unplug the ac adapter (if connected)
2. Remove the battery
3. Press and hold the power button for at least 10sec.
4. Put back the battery and ac adapter
5. Turn it on

- check if you can now boot to windows, if not there could be a hardware problem and next step would be running some diagnostic test on the computer for hardware problem.

Heard pop and dell vostro 1000 cut off and will not come back on

Based on the symptoms (Power light on cord is on when not connected to laptop but goes out as soon as you plug it in), the motherboard has to be replaced. YOu may call dell to ask about their out-of-warranty depot or you can call their spare parts sales dept to purchase the motherboard, then find a local tech to replace it.

Update Dell Vostro 1000 BIOS now wont turn on, nothing on display

You may be in for some trouble, a failed bios update isn't always an easy fix. if you can find the cmos battery try to remove that for a few seconds. you will also need a disk version of the bios, download that from dell on another computer and copy it to floppy or cd and see if you can boot to that and reinstall the bios.

when you press the power button what happens, does it light up and run the fan? Nothing appears on the screen?
