SATA drivers are part of the BIOS so if the computer isn't seeing it you have a problem with either your drive or your motherboard.

I cannot connect SATA HDD

SATA HARD DRIVE - XP INSTALLATION
The problem is that XP installation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on a disk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then, XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS and disable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is a IDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows has been installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver), then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

can you set BIOS to use the sata drive in compatibility mode? that would let you install windows without a sata driver, then just install the drivers once windows is working.

Run a sata drive as main boot up drive. Xp on ide cant see new sata drive to format or install Windows 7?

XP installation does not have SATA drivers.
You need to have the SATA driver on a floppy disk and during the XP installation press F6 to install the SATA driver.
The other alternative is to change the BIOS configuration and set the disk controller to IDE or SATA native driver, then install XP.
After Windows installation then install the SATA driver.
Download the driver from the motherboard WEB site.

Halt error 4 when installing XP on Vista

XP does not have a SATA driver on the installation CD, you need to either download a SATA driver and when XP ask at the start of the installation you need to provide a SATA driver for the hard disk, press F6, the driver is usually installed from the floppy disk. Alternately if your BIOS will allow you to set up the SATA drive as a ATA drive, do so and after XP is installed then install the SATA driver.

Change geteway laptop from vista to xp

Yes you can but disable the SATA in the BIOS first and after Xp is installed you can install the SATA driver.

XP does not have a SATA driver or a SCSI driver on the CD and you need to interrupt the install process to insert this driver.
Leave the BIOS set to SATA, download the SATA driver and create a floppy with the SATA driver. Boot up the Windows XP install disk and when it asks for a a hard disk driver press F6 (I think it is this key, you have to be quick) insert the floppy with the SATA driver.

NO INTTALEDWIN XP IN SATA HDD

you need your windows xp disc preferably slip streamed with SP 2 or SP 3 and then you should be able to install it onto your sata hard drive.

If you are having issues then you may need to extract the sata drivers onto a memory stick or floppy disk and press F6 before windows xp loads and specify to use the sata drivers which you can download from the motherboards manufacturers website generally as a zip file which you will first need to extract into a folder.

If that does not work using the memory stick you can use nlite to slipstream the drivers with your windows xp disc :

Nlite download

My PC don't recognize HD Samsung Sata II 250gb

If you mean the drivers for your SATA harddisk, you should have gotten a CD with your motherboard that contains drivers they might be labeled as RAID, sata, or EIDE controller. when you click that it should prompt you for a floppy disk to put the drivers on, you need to put a floppy disk in drive A and then extract the RAID drivers to your floppy, when installing windows press F6 at the begining of the installation and it will act like it didn't work for a minute and then it will pop up asking you something, you press S and then you will be asked to insert your floppy disk. It might ask you if you want to install the x86 or x64 drivers, x86 is 32bit and x64 is 64 bit, if you don't know which you are using it should tell you somewhere on your windows disk. another option is to get a sata controller that isn't part of your motherboard, it would be a pci-e card and it would come with drivers. I don't know where you could download your drivers from because I think the driver you need is specific to the type of SATA controller your motherboard has in it, but I do know that seagate and western digital have sata drivers available as well for their harddrives so I don't know what to tell you. best shot is your motherboard driver CD.
