SOURCE: Machine won't start
Hi there
i'm not sure if the fisher and paykel machines are any different in new zealand compared to where you live, but the only thing i can think of if it isn't displaying a fault code is if this machine is fitted with a reed switch(these make sure the machine stops if the lid is opened during operation) this may be faulty and staying open causing the machine to stop when the lid is closed. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Fisher and Paykel GWL08: Will Not Power ON
Hello,
It's been a while since I fixed mine... So I am not sure if this fixes your problem. For some reason, some of the electronic components (touch panel) get wet inside. You need to take out the electronics touch panel, wipe it off, if wet (BTW it is not difficult). Make sure you know where and how everything goes back together. On mine, I found rocker switch that got wet and corroded. If found the model on line (Cherry Semiconductor, ordered it and now works

At this stage i can suggest that the inlet valve may be faulty & giving off this burning smell.open the control box & see if one of the 2 inlet valves look distorted or brown or burnt looking.I'm wondering if it's not filling very fast also, this could also be an indication of the valve.
