It seems that many people think that sending a camera back to the manufacturer is helpful. Most of us want help to fix it ourselves. If it is under warranty most know enough to send it back. If it is out of warranty the repair cost for most problems is more then it cost to replace it.

Maybe the lens is intact (stuck).

SOURCE: Kodak Easyshare camera turns on and off

Yes you are. My wife denied that she dropped in the sand but I found a list of photos that she wanted to print on a post-it paper in the cover and it had sand all over the sticky part. Used the pressure air spray to clean the rings and it is back to life. Well It worked but there was some problem during zoom in&out, so I spray the rings while zooming and out and that cleaned it. I hope I don't have to open it to clean the mechanism. Thank you.

SOURCE: kodak digital camera V705 -error 45

Hi!
E45 means that a focus error occurred or the MCU BOARD malfunctioned. I'm afraid you will have to give it away for a repair. It's a hardware problem. You should contact your local Kodak service center.

SOURCE: I have a Kodak 8.1megapixal digital camera won't charge

Fixing your problem could be as simple as cleaning the battery contacts in the camera, or the solution could be a lot more complex and expensive. Here's a link to the Kodak Help Center - it provides a simple Q&A format to diagnose the problem and propose a solution.

SOURCE: Is the kodak easy share c180 digital camera webcam?

I won't say the camera is usable as a webcam because you will definitely severly shorten the life of the camera by using it as such. Firstly the camera is designed to take photos and short videos, NOT being left on continuously for use as a webcam. The heat generated by doing so could damage the delicate CCD (the part which collects light from the lens and converts it into electrical signals) Secondly most cameras are deigned to switch themselves off after a certain period of non use. Not handy for webcams.

Next there's the power issue. Unless you are using an external power supply for the camera you will be forever replacing batteries and for what an external power supply costs you could buy a proper made for the job USB powered WebCam complete with focus and sometimes zoom.

Next there's the mounting issue. Where will you mount the camera to give a well lit and steady picture of your face. Definitely not on top of the monitor due to extra heat generated by the monitor itself. Mix that with camera's heat and hello, and too soon, goodbye camera.

Webcams cost $20 if ou shop around maybe cheaper. OK your cmera will give a better picture but at the distance you're talking it won't matter. Plus you will need software to generate the webcam picture. MSN is a good webcam program. Plus depending on the output of the camera, usually only video. You may need a video capture card for your computer. The camera will give you a full screen image of what it's pointed at but you need a box to put a smaller picture in on the screen otherwise all you will see is one big face, yours.

So do you really want to wear your camera out prematurely simply because you can't afford a $20 webcam. The made for the job unit is cheap, will stay on all day and the power comes from the USB port. Everything you need and cheap. I think you know which way to go.

Good luck

Will not work

Try to find out if there is something else obstructing the free movement of the lens barrel. And then try to find out if your battery (yes) are still ok. If they can't give enough power, the motor to drive the lens, can't work and the camera also "thinks" the lens got stuck.
Sometimes, a gear that is involved with moving the lens became broke. If that happens, only a repair shop can help.

Lens obstructed. remove lens cap

This is a fault of the camera Not your fault. The camera will require service / repair to correct this. Again, this is no fault of yours.

Lens obstructed- rem lens cap error kodak z990

"Lens obstructed, remove lens cap." This is the message the camera states. My camera does the same thing. It is refurbished. The camera was only used a couple of times and the problem started just as the 90 day warranty ran out. I suspect this is a common problem and these cameras should have been thrown away instead of selling them. It seems that it is not a " stuck lens problem".It seems to be an electronic problem rather then a mechanical one. Has anyone fixed this issue? Has anyone contacted Kodak for a price?

My kodak c195 keeps saying lens obstructed and the lens won't go down

There is a tiny motor that extends and retracts the lens, sometimes it will jam because part of the gear breaks causing it to malfunction, I would imagine the cost to repair will be high
