When i use the adf tray the paper start to feed but get stuck at the bottom
If your adf is jamming while it is feeding it might be due to a broken hinge. Check out this video.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaS0oKcreBo
Try this approach to fix the problem.1. Clear the paper jam.2. Update the firmware for your printer. The firmware update will help improve your printer's performance and the sensitivity of the paper sensor. Make sure that the printer is connected with the USB cable to your computer when updating. Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark Pro700 Series Firmware Update.3. Once the update is complete and successful, try to copy or scan again using the ADF tray to verify that the problem is fixed.
Should the problem continue even after the update, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for further assistance.

Same problem here. Went thru a few tests with Lexmark but didnt help. They next said it would be best to get new one since repair cost would be higher. Thru front door I do see a spring that moves freely. That must be broke. After their help they sent email for 20% off.

Just take ruber band out and flip it. And put it back, It works. Main reason is rubber is dried. Frugalguy's suggestion worked for me. Thanks.

Rollers could be worn out. Also could be a problem with the paper sensor. Not sure what type of sensor this printer uses. Some just use a pressure switch, others use a light sensor.
Ensure that the proper paper size is being used in the ADF.
Are the paper guides on the ADF tray properly adjusted?
Inspect the ADF separator roll and ADF separator pad for wear. If they are worn,
replace them. If they are dirty or have a buildup on them, clean them with a damp
cloth.
If the ADF fails to pick check to make sure that the paper height in the ADF input
tray is beneath the height marker on the ADF paper guides.
Inspect the paper present sensor on the ADF.
• Check the flags on the sensor. Are they able to move freely? If the sensor
flags are damaged, replace the ADF assembly.
Make sure the ADF cable is securely connected to the ADF and the controller
card.
If the cable is properly connected, perform the following checks:
• Check the ADF cable for continuity.
• Check pin 1 on controller card connector J2 for +5V.
• Pin 3 should be ground.
If voltages are present, replace the ADF.
If replacing the ADF does not fix the problem, replace the controller card.
If the ADF is multi feeding, check the ADF pick roller and pad for dirt. Remove
them from the MFP, and clean them with a lint free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
If the leading edge of the paper is damaged, instruct the user to lessen the
number of documents being copied from the ADF at one time.
If there are excessive misfeeds from the ADF, verify that the ADF paper tray and
extender are properly installed.
Skews and jams at the ADF paper present sensor might be caused by an
improperly closed ADF cover. Ensure the ADF cover is closed properly.
I am a Support Engineer with Xerox Scanners.
E8 is a Paper Jam error that could be caused by:
- paper crumpling during scan.
- paper is multi-feeding all at once instead of feeding separate.
- scanner continuously tries to feed after paper has fed through.
if the paper is crumpling during the scan, make sure the inside of the scanner is clear of any obstructions. use the paper guides in the ADF tray to keep the paper straight when feeding in.
if the paper is multifeeding while scanning, fan out the pages before inserting them into the scanner. if problem persists, try cleaning the rollers with rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth.
if scanner tries to continually feed after the paper feeds through, the ADF tray will need to be reseated. open the scanner and remove the ADF tray at the top. line up the 4 keys at the bottom of the tray with the 4 corresponding key slots inside the scanner. push the tray back until it clicks into place.
