I accidentlally shorted out the speakers while stapling the speaker wire. the
cd player seems to be okay
HI,
Connect your headphones to the unit , to check , if the unit is giving you any sound. If yes , then the unit can be termed as healthy. Next would involve isolating the sepakers one by one. To do that you need to get the sepakers tested.
Thanks

First you need to get a different set of speakers to test the unit, if you shorted the speakers wires, then the wiring is broken or the speakers may be not working.
If you shorted out the speakers you probably burnt something ont amp circuits. You need to test the zone of the board were the amp is following the diagrams in the service manual.
you will need a multimeter and the repair service manual.
If the unit is less than one year old, then you can call the phone number listed on the user manual and have it fixed. If you mention that you caused the problem, this can invalidate the guaranty.
So what is happening now?
are the speakers not functioning completely?
just a minute.
you drove a staple inside the speaker??
it could have caused anything. we cant assure if what could have happened. but since staple is not heavy i dont think it would have tore the thin resin that creates the vibrations. similar to reverse ear drum of our human ear.
if that resin has tore then you wont be getting any sound.
my advice would be take it to some tech and have the unit opened and check out your staple. dont try to open it by yourself with out any proper expertise.
thank you

I have no sound from either speaker after I
accidentally drove a staple through one speaker
wire I was trying to position under the mantel.
