voltage regulator is what would cause this problem, but according to alternator stats on this veh it shows the voltage is regulated by the onboard computer. it appears that this is what may be the problem. (initially were the terminals crossed, and poss short the system? if so then looks as though you would need to replace the ecm/onboard computer)
The Keep Alive Memory (KAM) voltage to the onboard computer has been interrupted. Either by a dead battery (for whatever reason) a disconnected battery, sombody pulled the fuse out of the fuse block, or there is a bad connection in the circuit leading to the computer.
That's right! Your Jeep has a onboard computer that controlls all the power units, the engine and the gear box. As shown in your driver manual you have to perform the engine service ever 6- 8 - 10 or 12K miles. And your Jeep reminds you, that the service is neccessary. To perform the service right on time will save you money on fuel and spare parts, let the engine run smuth and below the limits of green house gas emissions. Change the oil filter, the engine oil, check the spark plugs, coolant water, servo oil, serpetine belt and you battery cable connections and the battery too. If you can't perform the service by your own, ask for the next dealership or service point. You'll find it at jeep.com too
Try disconnecting the Battery for 10 minutes. Just take off the NEG- cable. The warning light has a reminder for faults. It takes 25 to 35 startups before the problems cycle through. Or you can disconnect the Battery like I indicated.
You can also go to Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan. They can use the scanner to wipe the problems off the onboard computer in your car. If the problem returns go back and have them scan it again and find the culprit.
You can compare the new list to the parts you already replaced.
Yes your correct its flat. Now for you to able to repalce that battery first you need to Unplug the power cable of your CPU or your computer now open the CPU box for yu to able to see the battery. You can just slide the battery right or left it depends usually how to battery positioned. then replace the battery. then plug power cable back
If by on board battery you mean the cmos battery, then you would only need to replace it if your computer is constantly forggetting or losing the correct time and date..
If it is doing som the onboard battery is round and flat ( like a watch battery) and is usually accessed either under the keyboard, or by removing one of the plates on the bottom of the laptop..
Make sure the main battery is removed and the power cord is removed before replacing the onboard battery.
your anti virus is blocking the pop up for your reminders .... Try to restart the cmputer in windows safe mode ....
Ti restart in windows safe mode > When you computer restarts keep tapping F8 key till you get advanced boot option using up and down arrow select windows safe mode and hit enter
if it is working in windows safe mode then its your antivirus Soft ware blocking reminder pop up
Usually that is the first signal that the battery is drained and needs to be changed. Yes you are right, go ahead and change the onboard battery and set the time & date after that.........sodeep
Hi.
I think you will find that this can only be done via the onboard diagnostic system. A part of the service procedure will be to check the system for fault codes, and when this has been done the reminder will be reset. You could either go to a VW dealer, or if you are technically minded you could buy a £15 interface cable, download some free "VAG diagnostic software" and run it on a portable computer.
It's always handy to know what the garage is going to tell you in advance!
Hope this helps. D
