My olympus cann't read my xd card; it only displays "clean card" or "format" on it.
notes on screen:
clean the terminal of the xD card with the dry cloth.
Options are:
xD Card Clean
Format
MESSAGE TO CLEAN TERMINAL OF XD CARD WITH DRY CLOTH. DO THAT MESSAGE COMES BACK
I have and Olympus Stylus 820 and it's doing the same thing. I've tried two different cards and it does it with both. I've tried cleaning the card to no avail. I've tried the card in a card reader and it won't read it now. I even tried formatting the disk and I get a "card error" message.

Yeah, I have the exact same problem. I don't know if I have lost everything or not. On the computer it looks as if there is nothing on the card.
Help! Of course I have probably lost a few hundred irreplaceable pictures.

I have the same issue and have tried cleaning the card with no luck. I can't get out of the "clean card" screen on my Olympus 310 FE camera and have no idea if I've lost all the pix on the card. Have tried all kinds of things to try to transfer from the camera to my PC, but if I can't navigate away from the "clean card" camera screen, nothing else will work...
