Camera keeps opening and closing, orange light comes on

Wow, Not even the manual knows this error. Must be serious. It can mean two things in my mind. The lens is obstructed some how. Inside or outside. Or the battery is not ok. If you can't see anything on the lens barrel outside, please try to charge the battery. The camera will shut down without warning, when the power is low. Be aware the camera won't work as you expect, when a USB cable is attached. Actually you are not allowed to connect the charger, when the camera is still switched on. Look how the charger reacts. See if the battery is charged as before, because if the signal battery full does not appear it could be you have to buy a new battery. Success.

Once i have taken photo, i can see what i have taken, but if I go to have a look at all the photos, it brings up picture error message

Are you sure your memory card is still functional? Are you sure there is one memory card inside? This is what I suggest: If you can't view any picture in the camera, try to rescue the pictures with when it is connected with a USB cable to a computer or with a card reader on your computer. Then make sure your battery is still ok. Then when the memory card is out of the camera, clean the contacts, by rubbing them with a dry cloth. Place the card back in the camera and do a format of the memory card. Don't do a format, before you have all the pictures from the card on your computer or another save place. Make it a habit to save the pictures you take on a computer and on an external medium. Can be an external drive or a CD or DVD. One backup is most of the time not enough.

Stylus 700 error D:5f08 5e02

The error message (D: 5f08 5e02) means that your lens is dying / dead. It just happened to mine (on the Mju 700, but it's the same thing) and I was told that it could be repaired, but it would cost as much as a new camera. I've only had mine 2 years and I've been really careful with it, so I'm a bit annoyed, but I have used it a lot!

No pictures message showing on blue screen when card is full

Try this...Download the camera photo undelete program Asoftech Photo Recovery fromhttp://www.asoftech.com You must not take anymore pictures on your card. You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader.Put the card in the card reader, open the the program, select the drive where you recover pictures from, then click on start. Wait, for it to do it's magic. You need to use a card reader either one already in your computer (some have one, some don't). Or buy an external USB card reader. They are around 10.00 and can be found at walmart, bestbuy, frys, probably target. The problem with built in card readers is that they will usually only read up to a 2G card.I was not able to recover photos by hooking the camera up to the pc with the usb cord, it just won't work. This is the important part. Choose the pics you want to recover, then choose recover, a box comes up asking where you want to save to. Choose documents/my pictures or wherever you want to save your pictures too. The pictures ONLY save to your pc and not the card.Format your card in the camera after you have retrieved your photos and backed them up to an external source.

Installation on computer

You don't need to install your camera in order to use it.The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Lens retracts and error 5f

Hello

Thank you for using FIXYA!!!

This is a suggestion. If you do not feel comfortable trying it, you will need to take the unit to your nearest service centre. Feel free to let me know if you need any assistance.

The problem might be that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

On start up the camera

There variasOlympus lens error 5e02 5f08 5f08 340th (lens error)
For usblsb

The Olympus has released a breakdown that makes the screen turns blue and leave a message with the NEXT error codes.

340th 5f08 5f08 5e02

This series of code representing a total in this case of four errors.

zjlimited_1298.jpg

There are several reasons that make the Olympus digital camera, display that error and all have to do with the lens.

Usually gives this error because the camera has been dropped and has a defect in the path of the lens or the gear or gear motor or lens.

I also found this bug when the camera has some kind of dirt such as sand in the lens mechanism.

Another cause in this brand and very common in the Stylus 700, Stylus 710 etc ... (as the lens mechanism is similar to many models whose only difference is usually the CCD) is caused by failures within the lens, these failures are the focus motor, oil spilled on the blinds or shutter, and I've also found this bug caused by the fault of a thin sheet that protects the PCBoard flexible shutter mechanism or focal motor, this thin sheet is folded crease and makes the failure mechanism of this form.

Check it and keep us updated.
